I was way too skinny. unfit. hadn't worked out in ages. used to model with all the bad habits and non-fit figure that comes along. wanted to get strong. Started in a gym in 1996 or so.
Why I Love It:
The me-time. The achievement. The actual positive physique changes. Being strong. Reading "oxygen" without a bad conscience. Showing off my biceps. Helping spread the message to girls that there's no contradiction in being strong and a woman and attractive. That it's actually hot and how we're supposed to be.
How I Stay Motivated:
Great bodyspace members' pictures like that of "Making_A_Change". The women in Oxygen mag. Watching the athletes at the Olympics. Venus and Serena Williams. A good look at my behind in the mirror. Occasional setbacks when I'm on tour or in a production without working out for weeks - I always get back on track. Now I just need to work on not slipping into bad habits during stress phases in the first place. I'm getting there :-)
Touring with my band "NOISEAUX" ( http://www.noiseaux.com ) is also a lot easier when I'm fit!
BB Accomplishments:
first time I benched 88 pounds (here in Europe, it's 40 kilo), 2008. First time I managed 3 sets of 4 un-assisted pull-ups, 2008. Buying a mini-skirt and wearing it.

Right now, I need to get back on track after a 4 months break.
Been there before.
Re-ripping time.
I want to be able to bench at least 50kg and do 10 (wide-grip) pull-ups :-)
I want to be able to do Cir's "elbow plank" move (very advanced move, requires crazy lat strength).
Besides, a body like a track-and-field-athlete's would be nice.
I'm working on it.
I also want to achieve more flexibility and core strength - not only to look stronger/bigger but also to perform better.
Unfortunately I'm a gymnastics-dyslexic. But a few sessions with a personal trainer got me all motivated. Now I'm crouching around on the floor lifting legs and lowering elbows when nobody's watching...
I love weightlifting. The fewer reps and the heavier the weight, the better. But right now, I'm incorporating bodyweight exercises for more strength and flexibility, for the first time. I'll yet have to get used to these exercises, but I love me a good challenge.

Have you ever had a lifting injury?
Yes
What type of injury was it? How long were you injured? How did you recover?
herniated disk from too heavy one-legged rumanian deadlifts w dumbbells
injured. 2 years, man. it was horrible.
recover: after over a year of reha training without weights I was still in pain. I went on an Ayurveda cure and got -apart from the cure- 2 hours of "custom" Hata Yoga a day. After 2 weeks the pain was gone. Then I went back to lifting against the suggestion of my therapist. Not as heavy lifting as before, but for example 50 lb where I had used 70 lb before. VERY slowly and with perfect form... note, this is not the ideal recovery plan for everybody, I was already experienced. As my back got stronger, my spine got relieved. Now I'm stronger than before, but a lot more cautious.
My credo now: when I feel my back could get unstable during the next rep - I just don't do it. I leave it at that. it's not worth it. I'm constantly in touch with how my back feels when I lift.herniated disk from too heavy one-legged rumanian deadlifts w dumbbells
