I've been pretty active since 99' when I started loosing weight. I was once 300 lbs and knew I had to do something about it. The lightbulb went off when the scale at my doctor's office wouldn't go any higher..yikes! But it wasn't until November of 2006 that I really got involved in weight training. Since I lost all the weight, my skin has suffered and now I'm lookin' to fill it with some solid, LEAN muscle...and LOTS of it...grrrr :o)
Why I Love It:
Working out makes me feel good, pumped, and better about myself. Instead of worrying if I'm getting FAT or what I look like, I don't really question that since I push myself hard and pay very close attention to everything I put in and on my body. Working out is such a stress releiver for me as I'm sure it is for others as well. Through life's experiences and stresses, it puts a toll on the body...working out is an awesome release!
How I Stay Motivated:
Looking in the mirror and how I feel in my clothes...and seeing that 300 lb person I once was. I just take out my old size 50's in mens (cuz that's all that would fit me) and remind myself where i'll be if I don't keep focused. My biggest fear is to be where I was almost 8 years ago. All the emotional torment from the name calling, the looks, the disrespectful people. And not only emotional, but physically as well. I suffered back pain from carrying all the extra weight, out of breath like a smoker, and no energey to do much of anything. I couldn't even fit on rides at amusement parks to go on with the lil' ones...so they would suffer. And forget dating...I could barely fit in the seats at the movie theatre! So working out hard, watching what I eat, being disciplined, dedicated, and determined...it's all worth it to me not to go through what I experienced before.
BB Accomplishments:
I lost A LOT of muscle when I lost the 150 lbs...I was such a weakling and couldn't lift hardly anything without about killing myself. Even opening a door sometimes was hard. I went from 5 lb dumbells to 25 lb dumbells...so I'm headed in the right direction :o)
Forum Signature:
You can do and be anything you put your mind to...it's a matter of how bad you want it and the steps you'll take to get there...
Was once 300 lbs...so now I'm training to gain lean muscle to fill in that skin :o)
Goal (Long):
To become a certified Personal Trainer and a Specialist in Performance Nutrition. I want to help others the way I have helped myself. If I can do it, I know they can do it.
