Work and home life got very hectic in the past year and failed miserably at getting fit. Back on track again. For good this time and I got my wife in on it to help me.. or help us.
We considered getting a couple of gym memberships for both of us but opted in buying a bowflex instead. I like it!

I only do standing calf raises. Never count sets or reps as I just putter around the house and start doing them. Sometimes it's a few hundred reps a day sometimes it's 20. usually at least 50 reps a dayI only do standing calf raises. I thought I would be able to get a workout in this weekend but it didn't happen. :( I still have shortness of breath and a cough that sneaks up on me without notice.
Definitely going back and working out Monday tho ready or not.
xtra old cheese? hmmm. lol, i guess everybody has their kryptonite. Mine is Cheetos. it figures that the word cheat is in the name of my favorite "cheet". Good to hear everything is going well. Keep up the good work bro!
Bro, the race was tough! Not only was it hard, but i bruised my heel .2 miles into the race from a 10ft drop. It was 4.2 miles, so i ran 4 miles of the race on the toes of my right foot. I couldn't let the other guys down ya know. The pics will be on the website on oct. 1st.
Unfortunately I can't run until this heals up. I am lifting weights though. How are your workouts coming? And is the nutrition doing well for you?
The training is coming along nicely. I can now run a 9 minute mile. Haven't done that in a LONG time! I'm not losing the inches off my waist I would like, but I am losing weight so I know it'll be just a matter of time. By the way, what is the 5x5 workout?
LOL! I know! it's insane. people actually pay to do this race. It's somewhat continuous but you have to wait for groups ahead of you at certain obstacles.
that's awesome michael. I'll be doing chest and tri's tomorrow. I'm going to do 40-50 mins of cardio per day mon.-fri. that marine race is coming up fast and i need to lose a little more weight to feel comfortable on that course. Go to www.usmcmudrun.active.com and check out the photos and course map. It's gonna be a blast!
i've been pretty good. hittin' the cardio pretty hard to get ready for the run in september. my weight is around 209 but dropping. i should be under 200 for the race, i hope. have a good weekend Michael.
Hey, thanks man. Best piece of advice I can give is to not get discouraged. It seems like a huge task, and did when I started; but I just kept working and before I knew it I was 'that guy'. I was the one looking at others' transformations and now all of a sudden I'm here. If you just keep at it, it'll come. Sometimes you won't feel like you're making progress or won't see any, but keep pushing yourself hard every day and you'll be there before you know it.
my brother in-law is starting to workout with me now. that gives me a little more motivation to keep going b/c i have to push him so i push myself harder. i'm going to be cutting calories and cutting out diet coke. Just water and juice now. I read a few years ago that there was something about carbonated drinks that kept you from losing weight as fast. even diet drinks. but i can't remember exactly what it was. i'll give it a shot.
Good job. I'm trying to increase the length of my run a 1/4 mile each time until i hit 4 miles. then i'll start upping the pace. i feel good though. i haven't lost anymore weight. in fact i'm back to 214, but i'm doin some heavy lifting and eating alot, good, but alot.
i'm gonna start cutting back calories tomorrow so i can drop weight.
haha. Actually I'm gonna have to start stepping up the running. I thought the race in sept. was 3 miles, turns out it's 4 miles! Oh well, it'll be good for me as long as my lungs don't explode. lol. By the way, you do burn more cals doing weights then cardio. That's what I do when I go to the gym. Keep up the good work Michael. by the way, what's your profession? I'm in real estate.
that's good. I take sundays off. I do cardio 5 days and weights 6 days. But 3 of the 6 weight days is lighter weights, cross training with running. I'll run 3/10 of a mile, which is a loop at my house, then weights and abs. I'll do that 5 times. I'm wiped out after that, but it feels good.
if you have a craving for something sweet, try sugar free fat free lifesaver pop sickles. Or try the icecream bars that are sugar free fat free. I know it sounds disgusting, but they are actually quite good. if you want chips, get tortilla chips and salsa. the salsa is low in fat and almost no carbs, but always check the label.
