My father, Kelly McCrory, started working out in the 8th grade. His twin brother and him got a weight bench for their birthday one year, and they started to workout with it till they got to the point where they could lift every weight they had with it. They didnt have alot of money so they used paint cans, and stuck them on the bar of the barbell, and kept adding weight. By the time my dad was a senior in highschool, he was benching nearly 500 pounds.
My dad kept lifting weights for 20 years after that, then he quit because he didnt have time to do it anymore. Then my brother wanted to start working out. My dad loved to see that his offspring wanted to follow in his foot steps. So he started working out again. I was in the fifth grade at the time, while my brother was in the seventh grade. Weight lifting didnt grab my attention. I didnt think I would ever get into it.
My brother started to get really strong, and that is when it snapped. I have the genetics no doubt, and my brother is doing it. I might as well too! So in the middle of my sixth grade year, I told my dad that I wanted to start working out with him, so my dad took me and my brother to the YMCA. I loved it the first time I did it. Although I only had about a 45 lb bench. I loved the feeling I got from pushing that weight. I have continued to workout there ever since.
When I got into highschool, they had weight lifting competitions. Anyone was alowed to come and compete. I figured this was the perfect opertunity to show just how well I have gotten in 3 years. So I went to the first weight lifting competition with my brother. The both of us completly destroyed everyone. We got first place on Index for each of our weight classes. It was the coolest thing that ever happened to me. Then a month or so later we had another competition. Again, my brother and I came in first place in our weight class index. But this time, I got third place on index over all of about 500 people, and my brother got first place.
Right now I am in a Strength and Conditioning class in school, so during school I do not go to the YMCA. But during the summer I go all the time and work my butt off. Over the summer my bench went up 20 pounds, and my size increased on a phanomanal scale. I went from being one of the smallest students in my class, to now being one of the biggest.
I would have to say that weight lifting completly changed my life. If it wasnt for weightlifting, I dont know where I would be right now. It has definatly made me a better person. I love helping people out in the gym and at school increase their technique so they can pump more weight quicker. Me and my brother are overall two of the strongest students in the school if not THE strongest students in the school. We are all natural and we have never takin anything illegal to increase our size. Hard work and dadication is what has kept me going. I dont ever quit at anything no matter how hard it is.
Why I Love It:
I love the rush I get from pumping iron. I love working on a muscle and notice that after a few weeks its size starts to increase. Its pretty much my life and its almost a requirement for me because I have done it for long enough that it is like breathing.
How I Stay Motivated:
I would have to say that the results is what keeps me going. I love walking into the gym and not only being the youngest one in there, but the most built one in there too. It motivated me to keep going. One time I walked in the YMCA and started working out, and an older guy came up to me and asked me how to work some of the universal equpment. And he started asking me what I charge to train. I had no idea what he was talking about. He thought I was a personal trainer and was in my twentys. That gave me an idea as to what kind of career I may have.
Just remember that at first it may be very hard. But u have to build a ground to work out. Building that ground is probabley the hardest thing you will have to do. After that then it is all uphill, and your results will make you LOVE working out.
BB Accomplishments:
I havnt been in any bodybuilding contest, however I did go to my first 2 weight lifting competitions last year as a freshman in highschool. I came in first place in both of them. When I started lifting weights I was nothing but skin and bone. I only weighed about 57 lbs. But I continued doing it until I got to the point where I am pretty much the most built student in my class.

Jon, haven't taken time to think through your question. No sups is not a bad thing--you're young; let you body grow it's own way. Eat well. I mix up my style: low reps/heavy with high reps/light. The hardness/pump varies with me. Any over-taxing the muscle will make them harder--as long as you rest them, too. Post your question in the forum.
Jon, I'll get back to you. Great to hear you asking questions--some boys your age just swing weights and don't have a clue about it. Knowledge is impt., son. I'll get back. I'm on the run right now.
Take your time, Jon. Grow safely. Check the young ego to lift heavy too early. Listen to your dad. Great to see a young boy establishing himself in a healthy way. BB's going help you in ways you won't know until you're older.
