Overall Goal: Time to bulk back up over the winter after a nice lean out phase.

When I Started:
May, 2007
How I Started:
I went to a mall with my college roommates and when we were at Sharper Image we were playing around with some of the scales and I realized I weighed as much as my 6'4" roommate (I'm 5'8") I realized college had put some lbs. on me. So I started later that week running stairs and being a little more active, shortly after I started going to the gym a little bit at a time, by summer of 2007 I was at the gym after work every weekday and saw some decent improvement. I continued through my last semester of college but after graduation had to have hernia surgery. Between that and graduating/moving/etc I took about 3 months off. While laid up on the coach my mom bought me an issue of Men's Health and Muscle and Fitness. I realized how much I could be missing out on (doing 3 sets of 8-10 reps every single time I went to the gym and only supplementing with Whey Protein and a multivitamin) so I decided when I could go back to the gym I was going to hit it with passion and everything I have. I'm now in my 2nd month since back to being a gym rat. and I've seen major improvements. I'm keeping a Training Log which I will copy over to this site when I record my progress every 3 months.
Why I Love It:
It's my therapy at this point. I truly enjoy it. It keeps my healthy, feeling more awake and energized during the day, gives me an endorphin high afterwards, and keeps me from killing people.
How I Stay Motivated:
Health and the pursuit of growth
BB Accomplishments:
Been reaching more lifting goals and less body fat every week.
This is the closest thing I have to a picture of me starting out, I've got nothing from back when I was 180 lbs of out of shapeness. This is after about a year of steady exercise, down to 152.6 and something like 17% body fat. Still too much body fat and not enough muscle, so from here is where I ...

Goal (Long):
Bulking up over the holidays just seems right since I'll be eating more anyway. I've got a bulk up routine set-up and will try my best to make it a "clean" bulk up diet.
Weight Goal:
I want to GAIN 15 lb
Bodyfat Goal:
8%

Do you track your workouts (exercises, weight, reps, etc.)?
Yes
If so, how do you do it? Workout log, software program, etc.? Why do you do it this way?
I have a notebook I bring with me to the gym. I lay out my routine before I head in so I know exactly what I'm going to be attacking and with what. This is nice, because I can just write it down right as I'm doing it, and then usually load stuff onto my Bodyspace at a later date. Plus I can just flip back and see what I lifted last week and push myself to do better each time.I have a notebook I bring with me to the gym. What mistakes did you make when you first started working out?
Probably just my diet, only in my most recent endeavor have I really concentrated on my diet, that probably held me back in the past.
Starting back on August 11th I committed to the M&F Rock Hard Challenge from 2008. For those who don't know about this, it's a body transformation contest that M&F runs. After I saw last years I wanted to do it in 2009. I was sad to learn however that they don't run it every year,...
Muscle and Fitness Rock Hard Challenge 2008. Currently in the third month. I wanted to do this after seeing it last year, but apparently M&F doesn't do the challenge every year, so I just did last years this year. I wanted to see if I could do it, and really kick my own butt, burn some...
Congrats on becoming a dad! Having a kid is, I think, one of the best accomplishments in life. They sure change your priorities. I don't know how many times I've used my kid as an excuse to not exercise, etc. Keep at it, man.
