When I Started:
Jun, 1997
How I Started:
As a kid, I was pretty overweight. In eighth grade, I found a Musclemag edition devoted to Arnold Schwarzenegger and his bodybuilding career. Looking at the pictures of Arnold in that magazine, I decided that I wanted a body like his. I researched lots of exercises, diets, etc. and started lifting using water bottles and milk jugs that year. The next year, I started working out in my high school's gym and have loved it ever since.
I got distracted for a while and stopped working out and haven't been able to hit the gym the way I'd like to while I worked and went through college but now I'm finally back and ready to make some more consistant improvements.
Why I Love It:
It's always been a huge stress reliever for me. I feel that the body is an art form and I love molding, shaping, and improving myself.
How I Stay Motivated:
I watch the enormous number of people who are out of shape or overweight and remember what it was like to be in their shoes. I would never want to go back. I also watch the people around me who are bigger/stronger/more cut than I am. They remind me that there is always room for improvement and give me something very tangible to look up to and aspire towards. Finally, the improvements I make, constantly pushing what I am capable of doing and watching those limits change helps too.
This member is inspirational because he's really close to the shape I ultimately want to hit. He looks awesome, his muscles are well developed and his strength matches them. He did it from a frame that was smaller than mine, too!
the side chest and one 1arm biceps shot from 8/21 in your progress pics ... those are some NICE photographs! The side chest is an especially good one. You're really getting a nice arm and the pecs are coming along nice, too.
