Background
I am 50 years old and have always had to work out. At exactly 48 years of age, I started having a gut. Fat around the middle. I never had that problem before. I want to use this forum to track any successes I may have and inspire others my age to fight back against the fat around the middle.
God gave me this body and I am grateful. I really just enjoy moving it about. I have always been inclined to move around. When I don't work out, I just don't feel good.

Phase 3 of eating. I will have to start counting calories. Which means I will be eating more now from what I am finding out.
Protein shake in the am with fruit added (an orange or blueberries), with vitamins and supplements.
One Activia Yogurt.
One pumpkin protein bar & one container of low carb yogurt.
One pumkin protein bar.
Salad & meat portion. Usually fish. If I don't have salad, I will have a vege serving. I don't usually do a starch, I just stopped wanting any.
If I am hungry, I will eat a small snack at night, (6pm for me). It might be cereal (1/2 cup oatmeal and silk milk, or another small salad, or protein bar, or turkey muffin, whatever smells and looks good).

This past week was so much easier because it didn't take as long to complete the weight training portion of the training.
Looking back on doing this program, a couple of things have truly changed how I think about keeping fit at my age. Eating 5-6 times a day was major because it helped to regulate my digestion. Changing the exercise routine up really kept my muscles guessing and kept it interesting. All the lunges, deadlifts, and squats that I usually avoided for fear of injury never gave me a a hint of pain (other than 3 days of good muscle sore

Posted in General : Apr 14, 2012 11:53amTraining this way has changed how I will work out from now on. I am looking for the next program after this one is complete. Now I know I over-trained before.
There are so many benefits I didn't realize, until I actually did the program for a solid 7 weeks. The last 2 weeks have been hectic because I had to learn new exercises. After looking ahead for the next 2 weeks, the program isn't as time consuming as the last week and this current week.
Now to print out this week's workouts since my cooking for the week is all complete.
