My diet is specific to my own experience, so you may find that it doesn't help you, but basically I avoid: strong cheese, chocolate, brown bread and rice (insoluble fibre) and sweetcorn, among others. Milk is meant to be bad for people with colitis, but I've never had any bad reactions to it (thank goodness!). As for supplements, I take fish oil to help with the inflammation. Hope that helps! How's training going?
Thanks for stopping by, Marcus. To begin with I had a really hard time with Colitis: was hospitalised three times in a single year (now I've been out of hospital for 15 months). Like you, I do a lot by monitoring my diet. Also, I drink a lot of fluid: colitis messes with your ability to absorb water (as it inflames the large bowel) so drink up! Oh, and get plenty of good/fish oils to help calm any inflammation. Hope that helps. If you want to know any more just ask!
Wasn't voluntary. Colostomy is after only part of colon removed. Total colectomy is only solution to toxic megacolon. Ileostomy is result, with bag. Bummer. Lots of visits to the john, including middle of the night if you eat like bodybuilder. Wouldn't wish it on anyone. Last resort, better than dying. Check out which foods cause u.c. to flare. Milk, beans for me before ileo. Everyone is different. Best diet may be next to a cure for you, bro.

Thank you - it's a long road, but well worth it. I'm still on my way up, but with every step it tastes a bit better.
