Bodybuilding's not only about the weight training and supplementation; it's also about the diet--developing and maintaining clean and healthy eating habits, while using weight-bearing exercise (with high-intensity interval cardio) to stimulate muscle growth. I was a fat kid growing up. My parents bought me a set of cement-filled weights from Sears when I was 14 years old; I've trained steadily since. Diet was only something I considered when I tried preparing for my first bodybuilding show at age 19 (1985). I backed out of that comp--failed at the diet. By age 38 I was at 245 lbs, with a 40-inch waist. My doc advised me to lose weight, and reduce high-fat foods. He suggested Lipitor (to lower cholesterol), I chose diet and exercise to manage the blood fats. Age 40, I reduced my blood fats to normal levels, and was back to high school weight (185 lbs). BB Accomplishments:
Winning my age class in my first three consecutive bodybuilding shows in 2008.
OCB's master's class bodybuilding exploded in 2009: 9 top-quality 40+ men at the May 2009 OCB Circle City, Indy. Although I'd brought more mass and better symmetry, my conditioning wasn't dialed in, and I had water retention problems. On a more positive note, my heavy-weight...
