When I Started:
Jan, 1993
How I Started:
I started working out when I was 19 with a friend of mine who was a trainer, and learned the ropes! Many, many years later...I am now a mother of 2 kids (1 & 3 years...yep, I am BUSY) and trying to get really, really lean. I hate when mom's say that they are heavy now because they had kids...lame! (That gives mom's a bad rap) OR...even worse, the people who won't have kids because the think it will destroy their body. It is a great time to be in shape for my kids, my hubby, my esteem, and my health!
Why I Love It:
RESULTS, RESULTS, RESULTS. Enough said!
Well, and I truly enjoy the "ME" time...It is one of the few things I do for myself. I also have a parent who is terminally ill...It helps me "deal" with it in some ways.
How I Stay Motivated:
Results! Looking at all of you super lean gals & super motivated people!
I think of those people who can't work out because they are injured or sick. I am blessed to have a healthy body.
BB Accomplishments:
Having two kids and getting my body back! That is a MAJOR accomplishment for me!
Lisa, ONE thing about pictures..try taking under a Fluorescent Light. My back picture is under one. Shows much more than under a warmer light. OK, I will stop bugging you about pictures! I feel I am getting obnoxious! Heehee :) ~Missy
Ha ha, my husband came up with the name "marathonmissy" when I was trying to figure out my first email address. At first I thought, that is CHEESY and kind of cocky sounding. But then I thought, hey maybe I like it. So the name has stuck. I have run marathons, but not one in several years, I am just getting back in shape. I have alot of races planned for next year, definitely 1 marathon, 2 if I recover well enough from all the races. I will have to see what my body tells me. :D ~Missy
GREECE!!!! When I grow up I want to be like you. LOL. I am fine. Back on my grind. Glad your back. Shannon can tell you I was buggin last week when your profile was not there.
Yeah - im all for you being in great shape January too - LOL
All going good over here! Working hard - putting on some mass - perhaps not all muscle - hehehe
So January will be the new pic date for you? :)
Dish detergent, LOL. I need to buy clothes for the kids too, but I'm not much in the mood to go out and look around. Sometime this week I will. They are growing like weeds!
It's relatively warm here too! ALL of the kids are in school finally and I got my morning workout done. Now I just have to shower and run out to do some shopping. Otherwise, it's a quiet day here too.
The Saturday after this one. I have Thanksgiving that I always cook for my in laws. I can either shoot next Saturday and cancel thanksgiving or shot a week from tomorrow and do it.
I'm 50/50 on doing a comp. The only reason I would do one is to whip myself into shape. I have no idea how to figure out which comps are in my area but someone here on the site gave me a few tips on how to search for them. As for nutrition, I'm on my own but am using a pre-contest diet that an old online PT gave me that has been tweaked by another friend here on the site :)
Btw Lisa, I won't be starting that STS workout for a couple of weeks. Maybe around Nov 23. I probably should've waited to post that Fit Status until I actually begin!
Mama, you know what I have noticed..I do not know if it is the same way for everyone. I appear more lean at night..In the morning I have a bit of water retention..maybe from my Glutamine supplement, and my protein powder that also has Glutamine in it (taken right before bed.) Maybe a picture taken in the evening will be a good time to capture definition in your legs? WHO knows! ~Missy
Thank you for the nice comment about Friday night's blog. I don't blog often, so when I do, I want it to be important. While I'm glad that my blog moved you, I'm sorry to learn we share somewhat similar experiences. Both KP and I are willing to talk if you'd find that helpful. You're welcome to send a PM to either of us.
Oh, you're very generous w/ your compliment, Lisa...thank you so much! Sometimes I wonder if I mix it up TOO much! Maybe I should stick w/ a program longer for better results, idk. I'd still love to find an experienced live, local trainer that isn't an hour away to help me reach my goals.
