Before After

Front @ 183 pounds THANK YOU for your VOTES!
I have so much work to do.
With your encouragement and votes we made it through Round #3! Thank you!

All Progress Pictures

I have so much work to do.

Back @ 183 pounds
Mar 9, 2007
This is my first picture. My long-term goals is to lose fat and gain muscle. My short-term goal is to just to start working out consistently. I hope to take advantage of all of the experience on this site.

Hamstrings
Mar 15, 2007
When I was in better shape, I did have pretty nice hamstrings. I'm going to get those back. Note to self: Your butt is falling, do squats and lunges.

Legs Are My Least Favorite Part to Train
Mar 15, 2007
I don't like training my legs, which is why they look like they do--soft and shapeless. However, I was informed that I should learn to tolerate it to begin seeing results not just there but all over (thanks Fat Free). This picture is to remind me to pay more attention to them. Hopefully, I'll see changes, soon.

Clothes Don't Lie
Mar 15, 2007
I purchased these trouser jeans, in the wrong size, online last year. Maybe I was unconciously thinking about the size I wanted to be, instead of the size I wore. In addition to measurements, and periodic weigh-ins, I decided to use these to guage my progess.Look, the tag is still on them.

Physically, I have changed very little. But I feel more energetic and a bit firmer.

Front_April 2007_183 lbs.
Apr 1, 2007
There are still alot of improvements that I would like to see. Within the next 3-4 weeks I would like to lose at least 2 inches from my waist and a reduction in my back fat.

For comparisons sake, this is my side view from early March, the first set of pictures (3/9). There is some improvement. That's promising.

Those Jeans
Apr 11, 2007
Here are those jeans. Now, I would never wear these 'nut huggers' out; but they are over my hips and buttoned. Stretch marks, the battle scars of childbirth. :)

Back_April 19_Fluctuating between 183-185
Apr 19, 2007
My back fat creases are beginning to be less pronounced. I am currently working out around 4-5 times per week. eating 5-6 times per day, and drinking 3/4-1 gallon of water.

Slowly making progress. I don't know what my body percentage is. I have been thinking about having a trainer at the gym take it.

May Abdominals_HeyZues Personal Challenge
May 28, 2007
My goal was to develop of visible abs. The change is subtle, I still have alot of bodyfat to lose before that happens. BUT I am now able to do 3 sets of 15-20 hanging knee raises; I was never able to do that before. Also, my posture continues to improve.

My Back
Jun 5, 2007
I decided to take a picture of my back, to see how it looks. It needs alot of work. Posting pictures of parts I would like to improve it very motivating, so I am going to make improving my back a personal challenge for the next couple of weeks.

174 lbs.
Jun 6, 2007
I am currently working out 6 times per week and eating 5-6 meals per day. I need to get my water consumption up.

May and June Leg Comnparison
Jun 17, 2007
Really trying to create more definition in my legs. I've grown to like the leg press and dead lifts are one of my favorite leg excercises. I purchased some ankle cuffs so that I can begin to build a better butt.

Bloated and Minor Setbacks
Jun 17, 2007
Not only am I BLOATED, but the past week has been a dissappointment. Did 3 short workouts this week, as opposed to the 5-6 that I have grown to look forward to, and they were labored. Hope to be 'back to normal' this week.

Aug 19, 2007
To date, I haven't shown my abs BELOW my bellybutton. It's been a very hard area to address; the skin was so loose that it made a flap. And the stretch marks aren't going anywhere. :) It's improving and the overall strength in my abs continues to improve.

3 Weeks with Trainer
Oct 12, 2007
I have had 3 sessions with Billy and have been training is a dramatically different way--more cardio, more compound movements, lest rest between excercises.

3 Weeks with Trainer
Oct 12, 2007
Billy likes to do alot of weighted ab work and reminds me constantly to contract my abs to help me keep my balance while I'm squatting and/or doing calf raises.

Small Changes
Oct 12, 2007
So far the most noticeable changes, to me, have been in my shoulders and thighs. You can't really see that in the photos, yet.

I love how my upper body is coming along. I am looking forward to my lower half catching up!

These jeans are actually too big, now.
Nov 12, 2007
I wanted to put this up for comparisons sake. These are now loose in the waist, hips, and legs. I actually have to wear a belt if I want to wear them out.

It's All Worth It...
Dec 9, 2007

I was feeling a bit 'watery' but took the pictures anyway. I had just eaten a box of Fiddle Faddle--mmmmmm, Fiddle Faddle. I was trying to show my lower abs in this one so that I can begin to document my progress in that area.

Legs
Jan 12, 2008
I feel like my legs are getting alot stronger. I think my quads have changed the most. I am still working on those calves!

Shoulders
Jan 12, 2008
I REALLY like the way that my shoulders have changed--they are my favorite part. My biceps are getting more shape now, too. I am working on the triceps. I should post a picture of what I do have for comparison.

Jan 26, 2008

New Perspectives
Jan 26, 2008
When I look at earlier pictures, I can't believe that that was my body. I can look at each photo and remember what I was struggling with, my state of mind, and how I was feeling about myself. For those who are hesitant about posting pictures, do it! Aside from the diet, excercise, and water triad that ensures success, you can look back and really appreciate what YOU have done.

Jan 26, 2008
My posture is so much better. And everything just feels tighter.

New Goals
Jan 26, 2008
I am currently sitting at around 149-150. I had hit the goals that I had set for myself when I joined bb.com in March 2007.

Jan 26, 2008
The size 8's that I was wearing are now baggy. THAT blows by mind. (And ill-fitting pants just gives the illusions that I am 'wasting away' to those that don't understand my goals.) Billy is switching me up to a mass-building program for the next couple of weeks--low reps, heavy weights.

Jan 26, 2008
I've been doing alot of weighted ab excercises (per MsFitness) and I like that I can max out sooner, get a sweat going, and am actually sore the next day. There will be abs there by June--MARK MY WORDS!

My Back @ 149-150#
Feb 3, 2008
I decided to take a few impromptu pictures of my back. I like what I see, so far, and plan to keep working on it!

Triceps
Feb 5, 2008
I noticed that my triceps have a bit more prominent this week and it just happened to be a month from the frist tricep-focused photo. There is some chage there. Is it less bodyfat? The MuscleMilk? The push-ups? All of the above? Whatever it is, I am going to keep doing it!

Legs @ 147-148
Mar 9, 2008
Legs are going to be pushed to the forefront for the next few weeks. I would like to continue to work on my calves and, of course, transform my butt.

One Year of Consistent Training
Mar 9, 2008
I am looking forward to setting new goals and seeing where another year of consistency will take me.

More Carbs
Mar 24, 2008
Over the past week I have added more carbs to support my heavier workouts. It's made such a difference. I actually FEEL lighter and leaner.

Mar 24, 2008
I am trying to work on 'posing' and maximizing what I'm working with. LOL!I am sitting at around 147, now.

Mar 24, 2008
I'm working on the glutes and have been doing ALOT, and I mean ALOT, of lunges and squats. I have to compensate for the disappearance of my hips.

Mar 24, 2008

Mar 24, 2008
This one is a part of the 'glute series'; just want to see what I can do with them over the next few weeks. It really is a challenging part to change--but that is part of the adventure.

Pecs and Shoulders
Mar 29, 2008
I was on my way to the bathroom and caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror and thought--I have to take a picture of this! Looking forward to seeing some vascularity there, in the future! I love that my pecs are 'coming in', too.

Summer Preview...
Apr 19, 2008
Well, I went ahead and bought a two piece. I haven't worn one in my adult life; so, this summer may the first. I am going to be doing two-a-days for the net few weeks. This will be fairly easy to do now that the little one wants to come to the gym with me in the evenings. So I lift in the a.m. and get some extra cardio in the p.m.

Back Development
May 25, 2008
It seems like the bathroom has the best light for back pictures. It should be interesting to see how working my back 2 times per week (10 sets) will change it.

May 25, 2008
I prefer the 'fuller' look that I had on May 7th and that was water retention from my TOM! I feel like I look 'small' in this picture.

18 Weeks Out
Jun 7, 2008
I have been training for a competition in October for about 3 weeks, now. I have gained about 1 1/2#. The skin around my mid section has gotten a little looser. For me, this typically means that I have lost some bodyfat. These pictures were also taken first thing in the morning--so I am kind of flat-looking.

18 Weeks Out!
Jun 7, 2008
My legs are seeing some change--could be the 10 sets of excercises that I have been doing.

Jun 7, 2008

Jun 24, 2008
I was just having fun with PowerPoint. I have finally laid out a 'cutting plan'. I took what I liked from Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle (BFFM) and a few bb.com articles and put together a plan that I think will work. I am a little nervous about the lo/no carb days, b/c my head is swimming by 4 p.m.

Posing: Front
Jun 24, 2008
Posing without the mirror, I've discovered, is hard! It is like all of the sudden you are detached from your body and don't know what your own limbs are doing.

Posing: Back
Jun 24, 2008
I would like a wider back. I am just learning to feel them and be able to spread them--ever so slightly. I've been doing alot of lat pull downs and partial pull-ups (still working towards a full). My glutes and hamstrings also need alot of work. But, this is part of the journey and I am willing to put in the work.

12 Weeks Out: Time to Cut
Jul 16, 2008
I have been taking in about 1800+ calories and carb cycling. I am down to 141 pounds. I think I look a bit 'bigger' than a few weeks ago, so it should be interesting to see what begins to happen, now. I am cutting to 1650 calories. I am still going to lift for days per week and do a second cardio session 4 times per week for 40 minutes instead of 30.

12 Weeks Out: Time to Cut
Jul 16, 2008
Here is the rear view. Still working on glutes and hamstrings. I am also trying to build up my rear delts. I've read that building is hard to do when cutting. It will be interesting to see what my workouts will be like from this point on. I have sworn off peanut butter for the next 12 weeks.

12 Week Out: Time to Cut
Jul 16, 2008
Relaxed pose:I have to work on tightening up (but looking relaxed) when posing. I am still practicing posing and walking in the evenings.

Posing Practice
Jul 22, 2008
I am playing with the model pose going the opposite way. It feels awkward, but I think it looks better.

12 Weeks Out!
Jul 22, 2008
My back is beginning to get some shape, which is promising. The 'top' of my glutes are beginning easier to flex. The 'bottom' is a HARD area to target.

12 Weeks Out!
Jul 22, 2008
There are a few things happening in these pictures. I noticed loose skin and that typically takes a few weeks to tighten up AND it's my TOM, so there is bloat. I am going to but my butt and see what the next set of progress pictures reveal in two weeks.

12 Weeks Out!
Jul 22, 2008
This was the direction that I typically did the model pose, but when I flexed my quads, my inner thigh flexes and makes a sort of lump that makes my thigh look disproportionate, I think. Again, I need to lower my left arm and lift my chest.

12 Weeks Out!
Jul 22, 2008
There is a little change since last week. I am feeling good. What's interesting is that I started my cycle hours after taking these photos. My back seems to be coming along, but my legs are still lagging. I am going to keep doing those cardio sessions and TONS of squats.

Back Workout This Morning
Jul 28, 2008
I had a wonderful back workout this morning that I ended with about 6 sets of assisted pull-ups. I just kept decreasing the assistance until I could do one 1 or two. I had a nice 'tightness' today and felt 'upright' all day.

10 Weeks Out
Aug 4, 2008
This is the point where I have alot of loose skin; it is not as noticeable in photos or when I stand up straight. Waiting for everything to tighten up. I weighed in at 138 this morning.

Aug 4, 2008
My glutes are not looking great in this picture, but there is some improvement. Man, you glutes must have to be rock SOLID to not have your suit smoosh in on your butt.

Aug 4, 2008
I love the way that my back is evolving--I have to get those glutes and hamstrings to catch up!

Model Pose Practice
Aug 8, 2008
This morning I was practicing the 'Model Pose' and trying different angles and positions: leg bent, leg straight (my preference), quads flexed, back arched, hip up/down. I am make small adjustments. I have finally found a comfortable way to relaxed my bent arm and that is when my hand holding my hip bone. It is a small thing, but at least I am keeping it. I am still not happy with the rear pose. I am struggling with the lat flare.

Sneak Peek of the Suit
Sep 10, 2008
Here is the one-piece. Hmm. I don't know what to do with the strings. And I couldn't get it to fit. It's a humbling suit--I put it on and felt unfit. I still have alot of work to do over the next 4 weeks--ALOT!

Sep 10, 2008
I have the silicon inserts and I couldn't get those in the top, so I just stuck them to my boobs so I could take a picture. I am going to have to practice with this suit.

Sneak Peek of the One-Piece
Sep 10, 2008
At this point, I tossed the falsies. Again, I had issues with strings. As soon as I am more prepared, I'll take photos with shoes and all.

4 Weeks Out
Sep 13, 2008
Sometimes being a woman can be frustrating. I was experiencing some major pre-menstrual bloat three days ago, that seems to have gone done. Now, I can see what I am working with. I just PRAY that I am not pre-menstrual on contest day--that's when the bloating is the worst for me!

Sep 13, 2008
My shoulders are my favorite part. I love training them and I am really proud of them.

They are coming!
Sep 13, 2008
I have never been this close to having abs before! Very exciting!

Sep 13, 2008
After the October competition, I have my eye on one the following May--I'm am going to bring up my back, glutes and hamstrings. I can't WAIT to train with some more calories in me. I find it funny that this bb.com community can completely understand my excitment about that!

2 Weeks Out
Sep 28, 2008
I am down to two weeks, now. I can see the end. Here are some shots post-oatmeal and pre workout. I really feel good about how my body looks and I feel prepared to compete and make the necessary improvements for next time. I purchased some stones and have been putting sonme BIG stones on my suits. I can see why they cost so must. It's tedious work and my stones were big.You get one chance to get the placement right--or you have to change your plan.

I can do better on the lat spread, but my camera ran out of time. I am happy with my little calves. That is more calf than I have EVER had. I look forward to watching them grow, too.

New Stones
Sep 28, 2008
My original suit needed more sparkle so I started adding more. Even though most internet vendors gave sizes, I didn't have a point of reference. The stones that I got were pretty big but they worked, I thinked. I was finally able to make it to a craft store and see that 6.5mm is probably the average size. I have mnore of that size coming from e-bay and will integrate my HUGE stones as well. What's great is that they fill up alot of space. And I think they will look good on stage. Here is a picture of the original design and the additions that I made.

Depletion and Showtime Water Pill
Oct 9, 2008
I am trying to document the changes in my body over the next 48 hours. I have taken Showtime for one day. I will be taking it three time per day tomorrow and probably twice on Saturday. I started manipulating my water yesterday. It should be interesting to see where my body is on Saturday. I get tanned tomorrow and that should pull everything together. So close!

Deplete and Carb Up
Oct 10, 2008
Showtime is just around the corner! Today, I do my feet and get a manicure--no fake nails. I just can't do it. I get tanned at 6. I pretty much packed. I just need to go to the store and get my carby snacks for back stage--no sweets, though. I don't have the taste for it. Besides, the water pills have me going to the bathroom enough as it is. The combination of sugur and nerves would probably be devastating.

'Mommy Tummy' and Stretchmarks
Oct 24, 2008
For those of you who had have children or are just frustrated by 'the pouch', I wanted to share that YOU CAN CHANGE IT. It has taken me some time, but after over a year of consistent training and workouts, I am finally seeing significant changes in my abdominals. As far as stretchmarks, I have them and will always have them. However, I've learned that they will not keep me from competing AND they have moved to the background because I am in the best physical condition of my life. So, if you have tossed out dreams of competing or modeling or WHATEVER because of them...don't.

Post-Workout: Triceps

I had a PB for triceps today. I did kickbacks with 25# dbs AND 3 sets of unassisted tricep dips for 3-5 reps.

I've been giving the glutes and hamstrings special attention. Now, I work legs 2-3 times per week--emphasizing different parts.Split lunges, Good Mornings, and walking lunges are staples, now.

Not much change but I like keeping track of where I am going. Here is a picture post leg and shoulder workout and post-oats (Yum). And just to keep me motivated while I prepare for this next competition, I've decided to attend The Arnold. I am really excited!

Contest Prep Comparison at 23 Weeks Out
Dec 9, 2008
I thought it would be interesting to compare my 'befores' from my first and second competitions. I am starting from very different places, and I am interested to see how my prep will differ especially during Peak Week. I have also decided to do two shows in May-the 2nd and the 9th. The show on the 9th was the one I was originally shooting for. And the one of the 2nd is a natural organization that I would like to try.

Jan 11, 2009
I am currently 138 and I think I predict that I will compete in the mid 120's, this time.

16 Weeks Out_The Cut Begins
Jan 11, 2009
A more aggressive cut is going to begin, now. It looks like I have gained a little size over the passed few months, so we'll see what is revealed over the next few weeks. I am alternating a cardio session at the end of my weights with 30 minutes on the stairmill or recumbant bike.

Jan 11, 2009

Jan 16, 2009
I have completed my first carb cycle with lower carbs. I've dropped 2 pounds. The 15 Week Out photo was taken on my carb-up day. I loaded with yellow potatoes (160 grams of potatoes and a serving of pureed yams) and I don't feel bloated or 'full'.

Here are the results of the carb-up. I had a little over 200 grams. I felt sleepy after my first 1/2 cup of oats. Then, I felt energetic throughout the day.

11 Weeks Out_Day 2 Low Carbs_Post WO Meal
Feb 15, 2009
I am definitely going to show best at the beginning and end of the month. You can see this CLEARLY in my 1/31 progress pictures. I am currently holding around 2-3 pounds of water. Additionally, I am playing with my program, a bit. I was having issues with recovery. As I get leaner, lifting 6 times per week was leaving me exhausted and with flu-like symptoms. It happened for two consecutive weeks. I am going to reduce my lifting to 4-5 days per week and reduce my evening cardio from 5-6 times to 3-4 times. It feels counter intuitive, but I've already noticed some improvements in the way that I am feeling and in my appearance. Unfortunately, I couldn't get the lighting right to really capture some of the changes.

10 Weeks Out_In Figure Suit
Feb 16, 2009
I thought it would be interesting to see how I look in a figure suit, at this point in my prep. I am wearing the one from my first competition. It has definitely given me more of a push because the new suit bottom is a smaller cut. I have my work cut out for me.

She looked fantastic and was so sweet! It was such a pleasure!

Me and Vanessa (dvness)
Mar 7, 2009
I follow Vanessa's blogs here and her posts of siouxountry.com. She is extremely knowledgeable about the sport, supplementation, and training. She is currently transitioning from figure to bodybuilding and I am rooting for her!

Mr. Olympia
Mar 7, 2009
I got pictures with Ms. O AND Mr. O, Dexter Jackson. I would call that a success!

Me and Laura Bailey
Mar 7, 2009
She has been incredibly gracious with her time and knowledge. I think that this is what makes me excited about becoming a figure athlete--the comraderie.

Me and Monica Brant
Mar 7, 2009
She was very personable. She complimented my on my jacket and said it was a great color on me. Hmm. Who knows--could be my next figure suit color. I waited in line for about 30 minutes. It was definitely a small price to pay to meet a figure icon.

The woman built like a wall--solid and strong. She was soft-spoken and very appreciative. I watched her win at the Arnold and it was a thrill to meet her in person. Her hamstrings and lats were unbelievable.

It's Flex Wheeler!
Mar 7, 2009
Bodybuilding legend, Flex Wheeler was at the EFX booth. He was also another soft-spoken athlete. At the booth I also met Laura Bailey a nationally rank competitor whom I have chatted with on siouxcountry.com. It is great to meet people in person!

Figure Pro and Fitness Model Alicia Marie

Yes, she really IS that pretty is person. LOL!

This woman's body is tight, tight, tight! She is beautiful and has the tiniest waist! I was so inspired.

The Showstopper, Ben White
Mar 7, 2009
Of all of the booths that I visited, the Nutrabolic booth with Ben White was one of my favorites. He talked about his philosophy around nutrition and strongly recommended adding bison to one's diet. A little tidbit--Ronnie Coleman doesn't eat vegetables. Shhh.

Gina Aliotti
Mar 7, 2009
This was the closest that I had been to being star-struck--seriously. Gina should have won the Arnold--hands down! she brought an excellent package. I was the biggest nerd and had her new DVD in my backpack to get signed.I whipped it out like--BAM!

Abs are getting worked, on their own, twice per week. I am also doing some new variations for glutes, calves, and hamstrings from Billy. I am still at around 1600 calories and carb cycling. My calories are a bit higher on the high carb days. Some things that I may consider doing for my next prep is taking a week off of 'dieting' about mid-way. I was holding steady with some changes at 133-134 for a while. I had 3 days of high carbs, including biscuits, tortillas, and white potatoes. That combined with steady cardio caused some pretty significant changes. Just something to keep in mind for the next time.

Mar 15, 2009
I am practicing bringing out my obliques. My side pose will be donw with the arm that doesn't face the judges resting on my leg (per Gina's DVD).

The New Suit: 6 Weeks Out
Apr 2, 2009
I took this picture about a week ago. Here is the new suit. It's chocolate brown with irridescent stones that. I love it! I think it's going to look great when I'm all spraytanned and carbed up. Shopping for 'the suit' is one of the best parts about contest prep.

Changing Everyday
Apr 15, 2009
It seems like changes are happening daily. This is after several days of low carbs. The photo was taken after my 2nd bowl of oats and post-workout. Right now, I am just trying to maintain until one week out. I don't want my weight to drop or anything. I am not going to carb deplete, this time. I am going to do low carbs, then around 300 grams for a few days.

21 Days Out: Tired and it Shows
Jun 18, 2009
I am exhausted--too tired to even give a good flex. But I decided to try on the suit for motivation and I was long overdue for some progress pictures. I am at the point where the changes are very subtle. My weight has remained at around 131 and has vascillated very little. In terms of maintenance, that is great. In the long run, I am going to have to put on a little more weight.

Stretchy/Loose Skin
Jun 29, 2009
I wanted to post this picture to show what my stretch/loose skin looks like. When my bodyfat is higher and I am not competing if is a bit smoother and fills out. BUT when my bodyfat is lower, it is very noticeable.this pictures shows how I 'hide' it with posing. I push my hips back to stretch it out a bit. As I train, it seems to get better. It is different to be in the midst of prep and make such a drastic change but I was feeling like one would 1-2 weeks out and it was too soon. Plus, the quality of my training was suffering. I am taking it all as a lesson and we will see where I am in a few weeks.

This would have been show day. I look full in the morning. I would probably taper carbs this day to maintain. It was a helpful experiment. We will repeat it in a few months when I am leaner. That was tiring-even though it was just a week. Mentally, it was tough knowing that there was no contest at the end.
