How I Started:
I have started and stopped paying attention to my body and overall health so many times. I am just tired of carrying the extra weight. And I don't plan to spend another summer in jeans. : ) (Written March 2007)
Why I Love It:
When I am consistent, I am more focused and energetic. I love the changes that I am seeing in my body and in my spirit. (Written March 2007)
I love watching my body change and my feeling my strength increase. It is exhilarating and satisfying to train, work towards a goal and compete. I love the science, the will, and the discipline that it takes to be a competitor.(December 2008)
How I Stay Motivated:
The transformations on this site and wanting to be an example of health for my daughter keep me motivated. I want her to grow up respecting and loving her body.
Going from a size 14 to a size 8 has me even more excited and confident that I will reach my goals. The infinite opportunities that bodybuilding/weight training offers to change, define, and redefine my body is enough to keep me on this path.
Simply put, it makes me happy.

This would have been show day. I look full in the morning. I would probably taper carbs this day to maintain. It was a helpful experiment. We will repeat it in a few months when I am leaner. That was tiring-even though it was just a week. Mentally, it was tough knowing that there was no contest at t ...
My, how things have changed. In March 2007, I posted my before pictures with a few goals in mind. I wanted to be a size 10 and be 150 pounds. I read as mch as I could, reviewed journals, joined messaged boards, and did the research. I admitted that I wasn't doing everything that I could to change my lifestyle. With that in mind, my workouts became more challenging, I met my trainer, and became a figure athlete. Now, I want to see what else I can accomplish and push my body and my mind to new limits as a bodybuilder. This journal is going to chronicle this personal challenge.
Uschi's body reminds me of a stick of dynamite--tight, small, and powerful. I remember seeing her before pictures for the first time. She described how she felt that she needed to reclaim her body. Two years later she built an enviable pysique. But what was more impressive was that she glowed with strength, confidence, and pride. She built that body from the gound up and it only gets better.
You don't get a body like Bestabs by accident. You can't depend on genetics. Her physique represents years of diligence, attention to diet, methodical planning, and countless hours in the gym. I am in complete awe of the detail, maturity, and depth of her muscle. I aim to give my sport the same attention.
Do you track your workouts (exercises, weight, reps, etc.)?
Yes
If so, how do you do it? Workout log, software program, etc.? Why do you do it this way?
I use my blog extensively. I also use fitday.com to track my meals. And I have an organizer exclusively devoted to charting my workouts and macros so that I can see patterns and plan my week. Are you a parent?
Yes
How has bodybuilding and fitness helped you to be a better parent?
I am more concious of what my daughter eats and what proper nutrition is. My daughter's pediatrician informed me that she was 'overweight'. But know that at over 4 feet tall (90th percentile for her age) and 62 pounds, she is solid, well-fed, muscular and healthy. I know I am doing right by her. She is developing habits that will be with her for a lifetime. I am more concious of what my daughter eats and what proper nutrition is. How has bodybuilding and fitness helped and/or changed your family life?
My cabinets and fridge are filled with good food. My 5-year old appreciates muscles on women. We eat well and try new foods. At the same time things have become simpler. What's for dinner? My carb of choice yesterday and today was sweet potato pie. Man, I only get it once a year--so I went for it. Other than that--it's been turkey and greens. So, that's my 'free meal' for the week. Tomorrow, however, is back to my structured off-season.
i've already made my appointment with my nutritionist with regards to developing a plan to build more muscles. trying to get my legs to looks like yours (you go girlie) it is hard to do, but it can be done. keep motivating and i'll be watching your next move too.
thank you so much. it was like a dream come true. now i plan to focus on building muscle seeing as though i've a lot of my fat down.
keep inspiring people!
