When I Started:
Mar, 2007
How I Started:
I have started and stopped paying attention to my body and overall health so many times. I am just tired of carrying the extra weight. And I don't plan to spend another summer in jeans. : ) (Written March 2007)
Why I Love It:
When I am consistent, I am more focused and energetic. I love the changes that I am seeing in my body and in my spirit. (Written March 2007)
I love watching my body change and my feeling my strength increase. It is exhilarating and satisfying to train, work towards a goal and compete. I love the science, the will, and the discipline that it takes to be a competitor.(December 2008)
How I Stay Motivated:
The transformations on this site and wanting to be an example of health for my daughter keep me motivated. I want her to grow up respecting and loving her body.
Going from a size 14 to a size 8 has me even more excited and confident that I will reach my goals. The infinite opportunities that bodybuilding/weight training offers to change, define, and redefine my body is enough to keep me on this path.
Simply put, it makes me happy.

Goal (Long):
My, how things have changed. In March 2007, I posted my before pictures with a few goals in mind. I wanted to be a size 10 and be 150 pounds. I read as mch as I could, reviewed journals, joined messaged boards, and did the research. I admitted that I wasn't doing everything that I could to change my lifestyle. With that in mind, my workouts became more challenging, I met my trainer, and became a figure athlete. Now, I want to see what else I can accomplish and push my body and my mind to new limits as a bodybuilder. This journal is going to chronicle this personal challenge.
Deciding to undergood a transformation and meet one's physcial goals is not easy. Joojnla's spirit, quest for information, and dedication inspires me. Whenever she comes to a roadblock she knocks in down or goes around it. She inspires me to be better and stay the course. I had the confidence to do my own make-up for my 2nd show and first photoshoot because she took the time to help me and point me to a great resource. She exemplifies what this site is about.
Have you seen this woman's competition roster? If not, you should. She is a sponsored athlete, a doctoral intern, and so supportive of new athletes. She has the same 24 hours in the day and uses hers to the fullest. She reminds me that with alot of planning I can have it all--family, job, school, and compete.
Do you track your workouts (exercises, weight, reps, etc.)?
Yes
If so, how do you do it? Workout log, software program, etc.? Why do you do it this way?
I use my blog extensively. I also use fitday.com to track my meals. And I have an organizer exclusively devoted to charting my workouts and macros so that I can see patterns and plan my week. It would probably seem excessive to some--but I love this sport!I use my blog extensively. I also use fitday.com to track my meals. Are you a parent?
Yes
How has bodybuilding and fitness helped you to be a better parent?
I am more concious of what my daughter eats and what proper nutrition is. My daughter's pediatrician informed me that she was 'overweight'. But know that at over 4 feet tall (90th percentile for her age) and 62 pounds, she is solid, well-fed, muscular and healthy. I know I am doing right by her. She is developing habits that will be with her for a lifetime. I am more concious of what my daughter eats and what proper nutrition is. How has bodybuilding and fitness helped and/or changed your family life?
My cabinets and fridge are filled with good food. My 5-year old appreciates muscles on women. We eat well and try new foods. At the same time things have become simpler. What's for dinner? When I do chest I know I am going to be sore for almost a full week. I don't feel it right away. But about 12 hours later-BAM!-it hits me and I can't put on my shirts or coat without mentally and physically preparing for it. I did decline presses and flyes and a few light moves for the traps....
Just wanted to say hello, hope things are going well with your training. Things are getting better for me, getting used to all this GOOD stuff, (dieting & working out)...
Maybe that is what I need to do have a prework out meal, I usually work out on an empty stomach, but unless, I have that preworkout drink, I am sluggish..I get through my workouts, but feel sluggish. Any suggestion on a pre-work out meal? Your help is greatly appreciated? I really didn't know I should eat before I train??? Training is going good, just really need to work on my eating, how much, when, what etc.??
Can you tell me about Vasocharge? I was taking NoXplode, but heard its not good for me, then I switch to Fuzion and it does well, makes me feel like superwoman during my workouts, but I am not sure if I should rely on the pre-workout drinks although they make me workout longer? I am not sure which one I should take? Any suggestions. I know I need something b4 my workouts.
Keep me posted on your shows for next year. I would like to attend a show here in my local area, but not sure how to find the right one. My week has been good actually as far as working out has gone. I slipped up 2 different days with my eating in about 14 days, but overall I am really proud of my effort.
My holiday was great! Did lots of shopping. I'm just getting ready to got to Canada next week for 2 weeks. I need to stay on track with my diet while I'm there. That's going to be a challenge!
Hey are you preparing for any upcoming shows? Isn't there a upcoming show in L.A. early next year? If so, I would like to attend for more motivation. Please let me know. Thanks.
The pumpkin protien pancakes were delicious! Thanks for the recipe!! Watching all my macros very closely now that I can't train, and they definitely were a welcome treat this morning.

I think I will post honest pics to get motivated.
