The Perfect Balance
I have lost weight. I went on to compete. I gained the weight back. And, now what? I still love and aspire to have a muscular physique. However, I want it while enjoying wonderful, flavorful good and not constantly worrying about how much my food weighs. While this approach worked in the past. It is not one that I care to continue. I want to model self-control and discipline for my family, more specifically, my daughter and build a strong body.

Eat and Repeat
My coach lays out my nutritional plan. But, the tenets of my nutritional program are simple. I eat, primarily: whole and unprocessed foods every 2-3 hours, watch my portions, take a multivitamin and fish oil, and drink 3/4-1 gallon of water, daily. You eat and repeat. You know the foods and habits that are hidering your goals--stop doing THAT and do something ELSE.

What's Up With My Supps?
I used to take a laundry list of supplements ending in "-ine". I currently only take a multivitamin and fish oil. The key elements of my progress have been a well-programmed training and nutrition plan and the appropriate rest. Supplements are secondary. Occasionally, I will use BCAAs in my water purely for taste and when I want to increase my water intake.

My Motivation Program
Going from a size 14 to a size 8 has me even more excited and confident that I will reach my goals. The infinite opportunities that bodybuilding/weight training offers to change, define, and redefine my body is enough to keep me on this path.
Simply put, it makes me happy.

I have been considering closing this blog, for a while. I had a very good run, here. But, I have to say--it just doesn't "fit" me, anymore. Slowly, but surely, I am also "cleaning up" my Facebook page, as well. I suppose all of the bodybuilding jargon, cliche inspirational quotes, and daily gym pictures are getting sort of old. How many pictures must one have in the gym? At least smile at the mirror and not the camera. Could "Bodybuilding Burnout" be a... Go to BodyBlog

I went to the gym with my plan all laid out. I knew how many sets and reps to do. I even knew how long I was going to rest. I left the gym with noodles for legs and fired up for the next session--and I did not even use my plan. One of my friends (formerly a "gym friend", however it turned out he is my husband's childhood friend) was at the squat rack. I went over to him and, jokingly, asked him, "When are you going to be finished with that, bru?" He laughed and... Go to BodyBlog

There is definitely something to stress and its effects on the body. I am finally at the end of one of my goals--earning a credential. I got the "congratulations alumni" e-mail. I just stared at it. I read it over and over. I was so thrilled that I gained the momentum and made a few more tough decisions that were lingering in the back of my mind. I stopped my job search and began the application process for graduate school to earn a Master's in Educational Leadership and, ultimately,... Go to BodyBlog
