Always been active person from baseball to motorcross & worked out but had more of an athletics focus. I had 3 knee & 2 rotator cuff surgeries (yes I was active!!!) After all that I learned HOW to train the right way & the results were amazing. The changes your body can make so fast are incredible.
Why I Love It:
Seeing the results from the work you put in. The rush you feel after a good workout. The pump is amazing!
Mentally it is my escape. I go in to the gym, zero out with the headphones on, & hit it. No distractions, no cell phones, nothing but myself & training for the day. It is my release for all the stress in my everday life.
I believe if you have a healthy body it helps have a heathy mind. When I dont work out mentally I feel sluggish & tired.
How I Stay Motivated:
I've been blessed to have alot of fitness-minded people around me. Alot of my friends lift religiously or are trainers so it helps give me a little boost now & again, especially when I am tired or start slacking off.
For me seeing results (or NOT seeing results!) really gets me going. I set moderately aggresive goals on the calender & zero in on it. Focus is the key for me. Too many distractions just take away from a good training session.
I tend to be a sponge. I watch everyone around me at the gym. Watch technique, approach, etc (both good & bad). One of the reasons I am here is to learn from as many different sources as I can. Everyone can lift heavier, but how many people lift SMARTER??!!!
BB Accomplishments:
Recovering from my rotator cuff repairs really got me focused. When you can't lift a gallon of milk out of the fridge it can be really depressing. Now I am finally getting my body & strength right where I want them. Just a little fine tuning now. At 36 I am in the best shape of my life.
Im not the biggest, strongest, or most defined guy out there. I do what works for me to make ME the best. That is my accomplishment. I just mold the the clay that God gave me.
I will say it's always nice as a natural lifter to have someone ask "what are you on?". Too many people look for the quick result & dont put in the time & work to develop their body naturally.

I am not a big fan of the mass freaks in bodybuilding right now. I have always been a fan of the classic looks- Frank Zane was amazing, Arnold at 245lbs, etc. Just lean, symmetric lines. Not mass for the sake of mass............Right now I am just dialing in my diet again. I wanted to run 175-180lbs over the summer. I did a little too good of job of leaning out though. Got cut but I lost some size. Overall my goal is to put on about 10lbs of clean, quality muscle in a balanced form. Me at a cut 190lbs would be my ideal goal.
What is the most common reason that somebody gets injured while lifting?
Ego & bad form. Trying to lift too heavy only leads to injuries. Check your ego at the door.
For me Stretching is the key. I do all of my rotator cuff exercises to this day to warm up the joint. Get my flexibility going. It's the most important 5 minutes of my training time. Ego & bad form. Trying to lift too heavy only leads to injuries. Check your ego at the door.

Where do you get your workout programs?
I just developed what works for me. It's kind of a push/pull method:
mon & thur - chest & biceps
tues & fri/sat - back/shoulders & triceps
I do Abs/core work with cardio every day at least a bit
