Most of my life I was that "lovable fat kid". The one that was friends with most the chicks in school, however, whenever ever you asked someone out you got the, "I think of you as a friend" response. One summer I decided to start running everyday and hitting the weight set sitting in the back of the garage. The first day of school my sophomore year everyone couldn't believe it was me...
and as they say, the rest is history.
Why I Love It:
At first I honestly hated it. I had smoked since I was 13 and ate way too much junk food. I was stuck with the class so I trudged threw. I quit smoking and took it more seriously and was rewarded with greater stamina and a leaner body. I also discovered once you fight through the pain you get an almost, "high" from working out. This feeling has kept me going. I also get a great confidence boost after a session.
How I Stay Motivated:
I look around at other people in my age group. Many are out of shape and have low self esteem. Some, however, are in pristine condition and seem to have the world in there hands.
I also look at pics of when my grandfather and dad were in the military... great inspiration...
BB Accomplishments:
Proving that I could make it through basic training (AF BMT is a bit of a joke) despite the naysayers and coming out in the leanest shape of my life (mainly due to a stomach virus in basic but lean none the less...lol).
Stay lean, gain back the muscle I lost in basic, and go from there.
Goal (Long):
My sophomore year of high school I took a look in the mirror and didn't like what I saw. I was overweight and just plain in bad shape. I had low self-esteem, though I hid that fact from most.
I started running and packing on muscle until I joined the Air Force. During basic and tech school I lost a massive amount of muscle but cut my body fat like crazy. Now That I have a clean slate I plan on building back what I had and go beyond. I don't necessarily want a Swedish version of Arnold staring back at me in the mirror but I want to look in the mirror and be proud of what I see.
This man is the reason I got serious about bodybuilding and got on bodybuilding.com... No matter who you are if you put in the work you can do anything...
Been working some killer hours, roughly 13-14 hours a night and my time off is rest time. AKA knocked the hell out time. This has been going on for about a month and keeping me out of the gym. Granted, we do have PT at work but that's mainly running.
I don't always hit the gym so lots of time I do In-dorm PT.
I start off with arm rotations. One minute sets until I really feel it good. Then 15 set pushups (close, wide and regular respectively) 3 sets of each. I switch to situps and crunches. 20 sets of each 4-5 reps. Then I go on a nice...
Hey! Sorry to say the progress stopped about the time I returned from deployment! But my wife and I just bought a Bowflex and we're stocking the kitchen this weekend to hit it hard starting Monday!
Wow. After putting in those kind of hours at work most people would just sink into their couch but I have got to hand it to you, you still get your gym workouts in.
Stay strong, focused and determined.
I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for saying that you find me inspirational. It is people like you at Bodybuilding.com that keep me inspired as well as allow me to believe that I can make a difference in people’s lives.

You?
I follow my runs with sauna time too. My dad was 10 years Air Force. I have heard him talk about all the runs and stuff. are you gonna do air force as a career ?
decided to focus entirely on cutting fat to get super ripped with low bf% and maintain my current mass. hardcore cardio running swimming etc 6 days a week with bodyweight routines to maintain mass....what do you do for cardio? or is it all in the midst of being in the military?
i know the feeling man, i was pretty skinny when i first came in the air force (i was 19, 5'11", and 148 lbs) haha Keep doing what you are doing. Eat tons of food and go heavy as you can go while maintaining perfect form and you will put some mass on soon enough. keep me in the loop kiddo
Sup man, thats cool that you have someone to lift with that is pushing you to get back in there. You gotta remember if you want gains, you have to put your time in. You have the potential to mold your body into whatever it is that you want. Best of luck, and stay in touch!
