Hutzell Athletic Ctr. at USF, Gates Sports Ctr. at
Gym Location:
Fort Wayne; Auburn (respectively)
When I Started:
Feb, 2002
How I Started:
It all started with wrestling in High School. After losing 60+ lbs. and getting shape for wrestling in high school, I knew I wouldn't have what it takes to make it as a collegiate wrestler. But I did want to build my physique. I picked up my first issue of FLEX in June of 2001 and I've been hooked ever since. After the 2002 wrestling season, it was grow time and I gained 20 lbs. in 3 weeks.
Why I Love It:
Bodybuilding is much like wrestling in that it's a total preparation sport. Nutrition, Training, and rest, and consistency. Bodybuilding forces me to train my hardest and to watch what I eat. If I am not aiming for a goal, it is difficult for me to stay disciplined. So bodybuilding provides that for me.
How I Stay Motivated:
By competing! Seeing the other guys succeed and move up to the nationals and pros. My motivation is the competition. Bodybuilding videos are great to watch to, Jay Cutler has some of the best videos.
BB Accomplishments:
I competed in NPC Midwestern States/Indiana State Championships Novice Lightweight in 2003 and 2005 and placed out of the top 5.
In 2007 I competed in the NPC Natural Northern and even though I added some muscle over the course of two years i dropped down to the lightweights and placed 6th in the 2nd toughest drug-tested show in the country
Forum Signature:
The first thing people should notice about a bodybuilder is the X-frame, not the refrigeration unit!

these are some pics I took after bulking up in '06... I was 205 at about 13.6% Bodyfat.
I won't be competing for a while so now it's time gain some quality muscle, stay lean, and make improvements to my symmetry.
Goal (Long):
Since high school, I've always wanted to have an impressive, standout physique. Not just to look like a fitness model, but huge, hard, and proportionate. In other words perfection. Over the years, I have learned to be real with myself and my bodybuilding goals. I honestly believe I'm capable (genetically) of winning my weight class and moving up to the national level. With hard work, consistency, and discipline, I know I'll be in razor sharp condition (around 3% bodyfat) at 165-176 in the next few years.
What type of injury was it? How long were you injured? How did you recover?
I have aches and pains in my knees, elbows, shoulders, and occasionally in my hips. I've had all of these for at least a year or more. Fish Oil is helping somewhat. I'm studying to be a physical therapist, so this will someday be my specialty.I have aches and pains in my knees, elbows, shoulders, and occasionally in my hips. What is the most common reason that somebody gets injured while lifting?
sloppy form, overuse or repetitive stress, imbalanced training, poor posture, but most of all... not listening to your body

What is the most dangerous weightlifting exercise? Why?
That's a funny question b/c some of the most dangerous exercises are also the most productive. I like to think in terms of risk to return, and one of the highest on that index is bench pressing, squats, front squats, leg presses. I say these b/c max effort work requires a spotter for these versus deadlifts and DB presses that don't require a spotter to go super heavy. That's a funny question b/c some of the most dangerous exercises are also the most productive. Currently:
So I don't really like to copy everything that another competitor does. I used to do that when I first started, I wanted to do everything just like Ronnie Coleman or Jay Cutler. Training, diet, everything. Well eventually I wised up and started trying to figure out what works best...
