When I Started:
Feb, 2008
How I Started:
I have worked out off and on for the last ten years and have had success with the Body for life program and South Beach programs. But struggled to keep that success! It seems like life tends to throw a lot of curves at me. Example I've had 2 automobile accidents within a years time both causing trauma to my neck. The second was more severe than the first forcing me out of commision the last 3 years. I also have 3 awsome children that keep me busy. My oldest (16 year old) was born in renal failure and not expected to live 2 weeks. After 1 year surviving on her own and 4 years of peritoneal dialysis, My wife gave her one of her kidneys and here we are 11 years later.
Why I Love It:
I really enjoy lifting, and learning about good nutrition. When I exercise I have greater energy and feel good about myself.
How I Stay Motivated:
Thats were this site will come in to play. I'm going to lay it all on the line and use this site to help keep me motivated and inspired. Just seeing all of the great stories keeps me focused on my goals and were I want to be in the near future.
BB Accomplishments:
I'm more into wanting to be fit. Building alot of muscle mass is not my goal. In the past I had lost 35 lbs. from 250 to 215. But after my automoblile accidents (3 years ago)I gained it all back as well as 10 extra pounds. I have exercised since the accidents but have yo yo'd up and down with loss and gain.

Veronique has to be probably the most inspirational friend I have on body space. She always seems to give that positive support just when a person needs it and she by far has to be one of the most intertaining bloggers on bodyspace.
Deborah's motto "Defy Age" is the way she lives life. She is a walking example of what someone can accomplish with hard work. Even when lifes ups and downs get in the way. I wish I could be more like her! She inspires me to defy my age:)

What is your cardio exercise plan?
20 minute warm up before weight lifting (1 hour lifting) 20 - 30 after if time permits. 45 minutes on none lifting days ( I use interval training during cardio.)
You know how when you are trying to get somewhere and it seems as if somthing is just always trying to get in your way and sabotage all of your best plans? eg. running late to church and you hit every stoplite and slow driver in your city. You think to yourself man there really is a devil and...
Welcome back Mitch! And thank you so much for finding me inspirational! This fitness thing is for life. As long as we keep at it, then we'll see results. I know you'll accomplish much!
Hello, good pics and good progress! You look like you are doing fine. Hope your injuries are entirely healed and you can focus on slow and steady weight losses.
It's about sustainability and finding balance. It's okay to take a deep breath, reassess where you are and re-prioritize. Keep taking the deep breaths because there IS more of you than you would believe.
Well at the time you wrote that comment I was standing behind you. And I don't have any progress to update since I started again. And I don't blog every workout like you.
Hey Mitch! Great profile. I too started with reading the Body for Life book and had some success with that. I also bring out the Eating for Life book once in a while. That looks like a Les Paul custom in your picture. Very cool. I have one too.
Overtraining is considered if you do allot of the same bodyparts in so many workouts... when I was a Trainer I did the Cardio AM / PM.. got good results..
Thanks for that. I had an experience involving a heavy bench press, and a jack ass for a spotter, when I was a teen that resulted in a pulled teres major. I now pay close attention to that muscle and I don't trust anyone to spot me. I may need therapy for the latter issue...
Sleeping is a bit hit and miss, waiting on a budgetary change so that I can implement my new bed strategy. lol
Wisdom is pending. I have very many thoughts bouncing around in my head but it takes some work to stop the bouncing and turn them into something cohesive. :)
