How I Started:
I was always involved in athletics growing up; varsity basketball, soccer, and tennis in high school. Then, in college, my other passion, showing horses, earned me a scholarship to compete as an NCAA Women's Equestrian Athlete. I loved every minute of the 3-4 hr/day training and practice schedule. I'd have to say my dad was also a big influence on me for physical fitness; we even ran our first marathon together when I was 19!
Why I Love It:
-The endorphins from intense cardio
-Looking and getting stronger each workout
-The positive mental outlook it provides
-Sharing my passion for fitness with others is by far the most rewarding profession I have ever had
How I Stay Motivated:
-Any event/person that has been negative in my life; I USE IT IN THE GYM TO PUSH MYSELF LONGER AND HARDER
--Encouragement from bodyspace members!
--Thinking about parading around in gorgeous lingerie!
--Workout music that has a good beat
--My husband is a great motivator because he is always on the cutting edge of new training techniques and nutrition
BB Accomplishments:
-Finishing my first marathon in 4 hours!
-Doing a true pull-up and a chin-up with perfect form (hey, its a big deal to a girl!)

Do you track your workouts (exercises, weight, reps, etc.)?
Yes
If so, how do you do it? Workout log, software program, etc.? Why do you do it this way?
Personal workout log in a journal I bought for $1! I also track major progress on BodySpace. Mostly I am motivated by pant sizes and inches lost.

What tips would you give to others to help them stay motivated over the long-term?
Up until this point in my 20's, it was about looking good for something specific, say, a horse show (in college) or rodeo pageant competition. Now, however, I feel the "competitive itch"!
I would suggest to others to pick an OUTRAGEOUS goal for yourself! Really, be daring and bold when picking the goal! By setting the bar super high, it is more motivating and will fuel more as you see positive changes. I have never been a big believer in choosing "realistic" goals, as they do not motivate me and make me feel pigeon-holed to be "average". This may not be the case for everyone, that is just the way I feel!Up until this point in my 20's, it was about looking good for something specific, say, a horse show (in college) or rodeo pageant competition. I read an article yesterday about how you can still drum up business in any economic climate (note: this article pertained to creating new and keep existing personal training clients) by playing to your clients' emotions. It got me to thinking...
I am on a BUILDING/HEAVY PROGRAM so I am trying to increase the weights every week (if possible) and that is why my reps are so low. I am also trying to be get to doing chin-ups and pull-ups unassisted!
Monday: Front Squats: 6 sets of 4
Dumbell Pushups: 3 sets with a 20% drop off
...
Thanks for confirming my add! and yeah, lol, the hammock's a lot of fun... although, you definitely want padding if you plan on doing anything else but laying on it ;-)
Great progress pics too!
As for the one short term goal (i.e. benching your own body weight), a lot of bodybuilders work on solely the positive part of the bench. M&F provides a pretty good intro on their video page. The video is called, "Inside the Pectoral College". Definitely check it out b/c it really works!
Hey Lucky, I definitely recommend private lessons if you can afford it. Just make sure you are working with a CERTIFIED instructor. There are SO MANY people who aren't trained out there teaching dance. And they will tell you they are!
