I got started about 12 years ago, just to stay in somewhat decent shape... I'm so competitive with myself, I keep setting goals.. Just accomplished my unassisted dips...going for unassisted wide grip pullups next.. : )
Why I Love It:
You never ever regret going to work out. I love watching the human body in motion - muscles flexing - even if they're my own.. Every milestone starts a new goal...
How I Stay Motivated:
AGE IS FORCING ME!! I saw 169 on the scale one day after a year of feeling sorry for myself... and swore I would never see 170... I don't want gravity and cottage cheese to win.. I'm a little stronger than that.. ; )
BB Accomplishments:
Lifting more than the GUY next to me.. hehehehe

Have you been to an orthopedic surgeon yet? I went to my family doc, then the ortho who sent me to a physical therapist. Did MRI and a CAT scan before that, all to tell me there's no tear visible. I let it rest and am back in the gym, but mine was not as bad as you describe yours at all. "There, there!" Everyone deserves some sympathy. :)

Ouch! Sorry to read about the rotator cuff. Hopefully it's not a full tear and will heal quickly without surgery. :(
