When I Started:
Oct, 2007
How I Started:
I wanted a change, I was tired of being unhappy with the way I looked and decided to use that energy into working out rather than complaining.
Now nutrition, body tranformations, both personal and for competitions are my passions. Should be a trainer but chose a different career LOL.
Also a professional Egyptian belly dance teacher.
Why I Love It:
I love pushing myself to my limit. I love the results I have achieved and how I have inspired others around me to live healthier lives.
How I Stay Motivated:
Focusing on the feeling of achievement after each workout. Reading Oxygen magazine, and visiting Bodybuilding.com as well as attending competition shows.
I started working out in October of 2007, but I decide to focus hardcore in May 2008 to change my body completely. I wanted more muscle and to lean out, my progress was coming along so quickly that I decided to because a natural body building competitor. But as of Dec 2008 I became pregnant so now my focus is on having a healthy pregnancy while continuing to find ways to train.
Of course I have my doctors approval to continue my exercise regime, as well as my dancing career.
I have found information online and in books about weight training during pregnancy to be very disappointing. The magazine FitPregnancy has to be one of the worst publications I have ever read and the articles in it do not discuss competitors who are pregnant, nor do they give clean, healthy type recipes. (ie, their recipes feature soy which should be avoided and they are high in sugars as well)
I decided to find competitors who are mothers and strike up contact with them directly.
It is hard to keep a clean diet when hormones just want bad sugar and fats!
But I have been very successful so far and still training, weight 3 to 4 days as week and cardio 7 days a week (30 to 40 mins).
I have added a more high fat carb cycling regime to my diet, since the fats seems to keep my cravings under control.
The stats I listed here are my current pregnancy stats.
I also want to thank BRYNA DELUCA on this site for posting about her pregnancy. It has helped me so much!
I am currently 21 weeks pregnant, April 24/09 - that's over half way and I have only gained 10lbs.
On August 23 I delivered a healthy and beautiful baby boy. Of course I want to try and manage motherhood along with the rest of my interests like working out and belly dancing. I have been able to hit the gym 4 times so far and I go for a walk with baby Cruz every day.
And here I didnt think there were too many on here from TO. Im not playing now sadly, I had to take a break to further investigate the extent of a rotator cuff tear. Aussie Football is INTENSE! I saw a men's team practicing and its crazy hard! I would definitely be interested in trying it out when I get the ok from my doctor :)
Looks like you are well on your way to competition level! Love belly dancing, awesome that you are a professional and a teacher of it!!!!
Yup, I am moving more towards the vegan end but I still eat a lot of raw meat. I don't know if vegan will end up being my path..I tend to think my path is somewhere in between, more towards the vegan end than it is now though. You look great too, like the ink!
