Brooke Point High Attended 1994 to 1998 Stafford, Virginia United States
When I Started:
Oct, 2002
How I Started:
At the time, a buddy/co-worker and I were toying with the idea of going to the gym since one of our co-workers could obviously kick our butts. After a few months, my friend dropped off but I kept with it. Not exactly easy to stay motivated going by yourself, but then again, once you start, it's addicting. Have been going ever since. I've had to take time off here and there because of injury, and there is of course a continuous learning curve, but I know 2008 and into 2009, I'll be definitely kicking it into high gear.
Why I Love It:
It's an addiction... I mean, even just the very smell every time you walk into the gym... I know there are those of you who know what I am talking about... There's just a trigger the second you walk in the door. Other than that, it makes you feel good, and of course, it's nice looking in the mirror and seeing differences and making little accomplishments. It helped transform me into a 140lb beanpole in college, to what I am today, and I am just getting started.
How I Stay Motivated:
For one, my iPod and the music I listen to. I have certain songs that will help me kick it into high gear no matter how many times I play them. I also look around the gym and see those around me who are bigger and think to myself, I've gotten this far, I can make it further...

To get results in the gym, you have to put away the cell phones, put away any thoughts of socializing, put away any insecurities, worries, fears of not being good enough. It's only you, the iron, and the fight of your life--you against yourself. Forget weakness. Forget pain. Forget there's anyone else in the room.
Find your zone.
So I've been working out for years, but never really considered anything like getting into REAL bodybuilding. But I want to change that now, so this is actually going to be my starting point.
This was taken when I got home from surgery on 11/24. The swelling was INSANE, and the pain? FORGET IT. It was BAD. The swelling was on the whole left side of my groin, up my stomach, up my side. I look like a before and after picture, only the other way around. These pictures were taken about ...
