When I Started:

How I Started:
I have weightlifted on and off for years, mostly off. But when I'm on, I'm pretty dedicated. It's so interesting. My only complaint is that I have to wait to see the results of my experiments.
Why I Love It:
I love the challenge of control. If there is anything harder to control, it's the biological urge to eat, to lounge, and to avoid discomfort. It's just your mind vs your body, and what a battle that is!
You have to constantly adapt, and analyze data. What is working, what is not, what can I try? Nothing is the answer forever, because you are not the same person you were when you started.
There is also that fantastic buzz you get. And the vanity is fun too.
How I Stay Motivated:
I want to look like the person I feel I am, like the person I am inside.
BB Accomplishments:
Realizing that nutrition and diet are the heart and soul of the game. I wasted a lot of effort in my youth thinking that more work was the answer.

Progress Pictures

Not the starting point. I was chubby first, then got down to 115 pounds, and very skinny. Started weightlifting in Oct 06, and this was taken in Jan 07, at about 119 pounds.
Sad on progress, though I have been religious in my training and dieting. Probably inadequate recovery time. But my upper back (which cannot be seen and I don't have a before picture of) has done a lot better.
I want to weigh 130 pounds, with about 2 less pounds of fat. So I need to gain 8 pounds of muscle.
Goal (Long):
I also want to balance my muscularity. My arms and shoulders are well developed (comparatively), but my back and legs are lagging behind. I am working around a pull in my back, but I think I have been going too easy on back day because in the past my back was over-developed in comparison.
As for legs, I have problems with my knees, but again, I don't think I have been working them as hard as I could. My glutes are doing well, but I do a lot of lunges, with the effort seeming to be concentrated in the butt.
I seem to have an inherent and noticeable strength imbalance: very weak at squats and bench, very strong in pulldowns and deadlifts (Relative to me, of course. I am not particularly strong. At my best, I could deadlift about 120 for reps.)
Also, I have been neglecting my abs. I tend to do them last, and in a rush. I have started planking, 60 sec intervals, and doing them between sets while I work out. You can't cheat on those, and I can already see the result. My stomach is noticeably flatter. For something so straightforward and simple, those things are killer!
Well, work is killing me and have had no time to post anything, but I have been working out religiously. I have made it to 126 lbs, and am doing standard deadlifts again. My back seems pretty good. Knees still have problems. Same overtraining problem as always. Tried cutting back to...
That's IT! Cargo pants. I knew there was something missing in my life. I hope that everything is going well with your training. I get these little stale periods, too, where progress seems to halt. They always pass, though. Take care, al
How does your workout effect you? I have been doing deadlifts/lunges in the same day, then I do squats/bent over rows two days after that. Since I have started doing this new workout, I am always tired now, and the other day I felt guility because I skipped my leg workout and did another ab workout instead. BTW you dont "LOOK" 39 ma'am.
Hi! What do you think about my new avatar picture? I just took the "quads" picture off for now (I know you liked it...lol). How's your training going? Take care. In Christ, Amilcar
Keep all the hard work in the gym and you would reach your goals Here a quote which I hope you would help you with your training There is the Point of No Return where you have Trained so Long Sacrificed so Much, That you Can't GO Back. You Must Reach Your Goal & Trample On Anyone Who tries to Stop I wise man told me that and his name was Herb Elliot Australia Olympic Champion
You have that right, I hate failure. I also noticed those develoing on me as well. Very interesting, makes me want to go bench more, but I have to give the muscles time to heal and grow.
Thank you for your feedback. I guess, I'll switch my avatar picture from time to time - just for fun. And thank for for your nice comment about my legs. (I still need to work on my chest - maybe I'll add a picture of that later - when it looks nicer). Take care. In Christ, Amilcar
