My Freshman year of college I walked into the weight room and was amazed at all of the equipment. So I started working out, doing the same thing everyday for 5 days a week until I learned different, which took about 3 months.
I moved from Northern Michigan to Oklahoma in the fall of 1992 (what a change). I didn't lift for 6-8 months because of the move and new job. That was longest that I have been off in the last 30 years.
Why I Love It:
I love the feeling, the competition with myself, the way it changes the body and it's a good stress reliever.
How I Stay Motivated:
Look in the mirror, I can always be better.

ice pack, muscle relaxers and pain killers. Yep, that's the way my Thanksgiving weekend went. Last Wednesday while doing my last set of deadlifts, on the last rep I set the weight down and immediately lifted it 8 inches off the floor to rack it, making it easier to take the 45's off the bar....
You'll like the frozen towel! I was amazed the first time my PT took one out & put it on my shoulder after a session. He then showed me the metal tub where they put folks in & covered them in ice cubes. Thank goodness I only had the frozen towel! It does work; leave it on for about 15 min to reduce inflammation. Be sure to use a regular towel or clothing to keep the frozen cloth off your skin. It's still really cold! You will learn to love it! :)
Sorry to hear about your back Steve. Take it easy and don't push it; I speak from experience. Hang in there, it will get better and you will be able to hit it hard.
Sorry you hurt your back. That can be rough. I have a whopping headache today, but trying to work thru it. Will be doing weights tonight, it always makes me feel better. :) Good for you jumping back into good food too!

I had a great holiday and I did keep the portions down the first two times I went back...but time number three we won't discuss! Lol! Actually I watched a 25 year old marathon runner eat more than I thought was humanly possible. It was a sight to behold. Skinny little thing ate about half his bodyweight in turkey and stuffing...

Things are so good...and yep! I'm working hard at the gym. Actually, I'm loving it so much lately you'd have to use a crowbar to get me out of there! I'm sure looking forward to the next couple of days. I've got my fork out and I'm ready to go! Wishing you a wonderful Thanksgiving!!
