When I Started:
Jul, 2007
How I Started:
Making a long story short my doctor said I was officially a diabetic and my cholesterol was 300.I had let myself go to the negative side of life. It took three month of cardio every day to drop the from 358 to 328. The next doctor visit he said "I don't know what your doing just keep it up". In March of 2008 I started lifting to build,at my age it doesn't come easy but it will happen .My long term goal is to compete in my age group.
Why I Love It:
I love the younger women !!! I don't look my age, they are so surprised when they find out my true age!
How I Stay Motivated:
It's the complements I get from those that saw me when I started. The looks from the newcomers when I show them where I was ,I keep the picture on the front as a reminder. Also the energy and stamina I have.
BB Accomplishments:
I have come from 358 lbs to 276 and have some definition in my arms and legs the back, chest and shoulders are starting to happen also.

I can appreciate the problems that your new job are causing with a fitness schedule. You'll get into the rhythm of things with eating and exercise, though, if you keep it a first priority.

Thanks for keeping me up to date--how did the driving test go? Things working out okay? How are you doing with your fitness goals?

Good job on updating the measurements. I should do the same. I track the change here at home. It keeps me motivated. I'm sure it will do the same for you to notice the change over time.

Sorry you've been sick. Congrats on the weight loss. So you've been tracking your nutrition--good. If you posted a typical couple of days of eating in you blog section, I'd be glad to comment. Be sure to say size of each serving and to say what time you ate it and what time your workout was in relation to the meals.

Only cardio? No way. Your mission is 3-fold: 1. Enough cardio to increase basic metabolic rate (3 X /week for 30 min. will do that--intense enough that you are at 85% MHR). 2. Enough weight lifting to increase muscle mass which in turn will burn off more fat (3 X /week for 60 min. will do that--intense enough that you fatigue in the 8-12 rep range). 3. Eat smart--small meals, all with protein spaced every 2 to 3 hours with a total of 9-10 calories per pound of body weight per day.

Welcome to our "over 60" group. Share comments or questions to generate some discussion. I'm shooting for a contest in April, so we can prod each other on.
