Background

When I Started: Jun 2005
HOW I STARTED:

I started lifting at age 15 to be more competitive in sports and try to keep up with the rest of the talent in my grade. I was always "the small kid" and graduated highschool 6'1 at 153lbs. I began my college career at 18, there was nothing to be competitive in (other than drinking)and I had to find something to challenge myself with. When I turned 19 I knew I always enjoyed lifting and decided to pick it back up ... I never looked back after that day.

WHY I LOVE IT:

I love it more or less for two reasons: It gives me drive and focus, allowing me to devote myself to a specific goal and also gives me the satisfaction of being able to help others where I failed. Teaching others from your own mistakes and seeing them succeed is the most rewarding thing I could ever experience.

Overcoming Obstacles & Defeating the Negativity

When I was growing up my dad struggled to make ends meet and my mom was going to college to try and become a dental hygienist.
