Horlick High Attended 1996 to 2000 Racine, Wisconsin United States
When I Started:
Sep, 2006
How I Started:
I was always really athletic, but started to lose that physique in college. I dated a bodybuilder and that got me back on track. Now I am anxious to start competing! What a rush!
Why I Love It:
I love watching my body transform. I get such a rush from the results!
How I Stay Motivated:
Follow a schedule to stay on track. Visualize my results and accomplishments and get rockin'
BB Accomplishments:
I took 2nd place in my first figure competition - Fox Cities, April 25, 2009. Then took 2nd place at the Wisconsin State Figure Show in Madison on May 16, 2009. I am now qualified to compete at Junior Nationals :)
Forum Signature:
"Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment."
I want to feel confident - always. I'm training hard to compete at Jr Nationals next June.
Goal (Long):
I love the way I look - finally! Hard work has definitely paid off. Time to train my weak spots and not overtrain my strengths. I recently qualified for Junior Nationals, after competing in my first 2 figure shows (took 2nd at both). I plan to compete at a at least one more local shows before Junior Nationals next summer (June 2010).
Devoted wife and mom, business owner and about to further her education even more (on top of training and competing)...Marissa is stunning, kind and focused. Her dreams are quickly turning into accomplishments and she's still very new to the sport. I'm lucky to know her!
How has bodybuilding and fitness helped and/or changed your family life?
My life is far more structured and I am a much more disciplined person.

How has bodybuilding and fitness helped you in your career?
Well, I work in public relations and as a freelance writer on the side. I'm in the process of pitching fitness related artices to bodybuilding and sports magazines. I feel my contest history and love of the sport add to my credentials.Well, I work in public relations and as a freelance writer on the side. Well, since I told everyone I'd compete at the Wisconsin provided I place Top 2 - I have to stick to my word and do it, even though a part of me was hesitant at first.
Work has been ridiculously busy, plus I just finished moving - where does the time go?
While getting up at 4:45 am...
Wow...two jobs and hitting the gym 3-4 times/week, when do you find time to sleep? It's def a good idea to cut back on the training when you have so much going on. You don't want to get burnt-out or break-down your body. When did you say you were moving here?
Nice. St. Louis Park is a really nice area. I lived there last year, and I'm only one city away from there now...and that is where my gym is, so you'll at least have a workout buddy when you move here! ;) How is your training going?
Yeah, that is a pretty big gap between the two competitions, that would be too hard to try to stay so lean for that long. Are you excited about the relocation? St. Paul is a nice city, I lived there two summers ago and I liked it, but now I'm working & living in Minneapolis.
That def sounds like a good plan. I'm not sure if I'll do both Jr. USA's and Jr. Nats..I'll do Jr. USA's for sure and maybe see how that goes. I'll def be at both the MN state and JR. nationals watching for sure, if I'm not competing so I'll be cheering you on! Are you going to go watch the WI state?
You don't sound too excited about it though. Are you starting to hit a wall in training?
My training is going pretty well. Just trying to put on some size. I'm going to do a couple shows in early spring as "warm-ups" for either Jr. USA's or Jr. Nationals. What show are you planning on doing in the spring? Are you going to do the Fox Cities again?
hey Carrie!! how are you doing? How is your training going? Did you ever take off some time after your last comp? Well you look amazing and I hope you are doing great! Talk to you soon!
Yeah, what little I do know, you seem like a very positive person and that goes a very long way!.. Yeah a group of us went yesterday and are heading back today. You should come up I had an extra couple tickets for friday. Not a huge country fan but it was a pretty good time.
Hey! Training has been real tough lately. I'm always sore. O well, how has your training been? Are you doing any shows this year? You look great! Thanks for the complement too.
Ah offseason time hey? Since I do the whole football thing I never have an offseason. I'm either playing football or lifting big. But that's the way I like it!
Yeah I know its the "off-season" but I have goals that I need to be hitting! Its gonna be a lot tougher at a higher weight class so lots of work to be done.. Your back looks amazing btw!
