When I Started:
Apr, 2007
How I Started:
In my 'previous life' I was eating a lot of junk and not exercising and this lead to me being 100kgs+. In 2005 I began to live a healthier lifestyle, starting with eating healthier and walking a few times a week.
I then took up recreational cycling and I soon found a passion for it.
2007 - I worked on improving my all round fitness, my cycling performance, increasing my km's and losing the majority of the remaining fat. I started resistance training in July and I rode approx 8,500km's.
2008 - As a side-effect of riding so much, I have now cut most of the fat. This year my focus will be to re-shape my body by gaining muscle.
Why I Love It:
Keeps the brain and body active, and the 'feel good chemicals' flowing. Exercising and living healthy makes me feel strong, fit and ready to take on any challenge!
How I Stay Motivated:
I think of how far I have come so far, and occasionally I look back at photos of my larger self to re-affirm that's not a state I want my body to be in ever again.
BB Accomplishments:
Losing 40kgs. Adding muscle mass to tighten the remaining 'loose' areas.
What is the most dangerous weightlifting exercise? Why?
I would say deadlift's... I really feel it in my lower back if my form is not 100%.
Squats can be scary too - you know that feeling of 'shit! I can't get back up!'.. had that a few times too many

Why I like this video: Ronnie doing 2300lbs leg press.. WOW!
I love how a dude attempts to spot him by holding the plates.. like that is going to do help at all!
Holy moly - I think this is about as much of a cut phase as I need. I feel like a weedy lightweight! That's 2.1kg (4.6lb) loss in 7 weeks = 300grams/ week, a nice slow loss and I don't feel like I have sacrificed too much muscle. My lifts have...
I thank you for your very (and much too kind)complimentary comment. I get such joy from watching (and even assisting) folks achieve their fitness goals and dreams. I have been extremely blessed and hope that I am able to be a positive role model to members of both sexes and of all ages. You are looking fantastic and I urge you to keep up the great work.
