Background
I spent a great deal of time during my formative years (see SCHOOL years) as something of a victim. I swear, watching movies where the bookworm gets crammed into a locker or a trash can always makes me laugh and wonder who was recording my life so they could make money off of it. So, after HS, I made a seriously stupid choice. Marriage. Yeah, don't remind me. The sudden responsibilty only increased when dumb teenagers and marriage conspire to bring about two glowing little wonders. So, now I have two kids, a wife, no clue, and a beard. That left only one option. Unfortunetly, my plans for world domination weren't quite as well thought out as I originally hoped for, so I went with plan B. Military Service. Yeah.. Well, after being selected for a career field with a surprisingly confusing title, I later found out it was just a fancy way of saying Carpenter. So, now I'm young, married with kids, and a military construction worker. I was postive my ship would come in one day when someone saw what a sitcom this could be. While I was waiting, however, I did learn a few things.. Like, if you're going to be schlepping lumber and metal back and forth, it's proably a good idea to be stronger than your average hipster, coffee drinking, pipe smoking, long hair wearing college kid. (I wasn't a college kid...the rest.. eh... youth) So I started hitting the gym. Eventually, someone told me that if i stopped doing that, and went inside to USE it instead, I would get more results. I toyed around, I admit. Didn't really work TOO hard, but I was determined. To do what, i have no idea, kind of like driving out onto the highway, going five under the speed limit and having no idea which direction you're going in. Eventually, a co worker (who happened to be suffering from a tragic case of short man syndrome the likes of which Napoleaon might cringe at) started a new workout book and he wanted someone to spot/workout with. Ever since then, I've been addicted. Watching my chest and arms grow, that was the key. Suddenly, I didn't feel like a victim anymore. I felt powerful, strong, capable, and moderately smelly. (only RIGHT after the gym.) After the divorce, I became even more dedicated to it, and grew from a skinny 175 lb'r up to 190. (I'm currently sitting at 215) Since then, I've tried almost everything that struck my fancy at one point or another. P90X, mens Health work outs, Bowflex, kettlebells, etc... Always looking for something interesting and challanging.
"Stronger people are harder to kill that weaker people, and more useful in general" -Mark Rippetoe Aside from which, it's always gratifying when the guy who's trying to slap my wifes ass looks at me and goes 'uh, this might not be such a good idea'. (2nd wife. I upgraded)

How? How did they do it???
And that motivates me... That pushes me that little farther when that last rep isn't wanting to show itself, when the weights feel that much more heavy. We all have are problems, we've all let it slide when we knew we shouldn't, but on here, we can see how to find our way back.
The people on here, who work so hard, who sweat and bleed to make a change.. They motive me. They inspire me.
