When I Started:
May, 2008
How I Started:
I have been a long distance runner since I was about 12 yrs old and a consistent runner since then. BUT... I recently deployed to Iraq and I continued to work out and hit the weights more often- a plus!- but the running terrain has caused me to develop plantar fasciitis... which affects your feet. I managed to drop 12 lbs in the short 4 months I was deployed... but since returning home to fastfood America, I've fallen back into the lazy rut and gained all the weight back. Due to the foot condition, I've been forced to find alternative routines to work out and loose the weight... P90X!
Why I Love It:
Adrenaline rush!... nothing better than a runner's high!!!
How I Stay Motivated:
Pictures and quotes... I paste them everywhere... mirrors, office computer, closets, drawers, etc... and good friends who keep me going and inspired. Also a big factor that has come into my life is the skin cancer that was just found... Life is too short to waste fat and not feeling like a million bucks! I also really want to be able to ride my bike and be able to pull off my riding jacket and turn heads... so every time I get on my bike I remember how great I want to look! Keep going!
Back in the game...New Years resolution to start the new year off right...IN SHAPE!!
Goal (Long):
Life happens and you take the good with the bad... with in the last year I deployed to Iraq, was diagnosed with Melanoma- a form of skin cancer- at 23 yrs old, lost a close relative, deployed to Iraq again, broke off a year+ serious relationship upon returning home, started smoking again, quit my job, changed my career path big time, and am now in the middle of buying my first home. Needless to say it's been one hell of a year. Life changing is the best way for me to describe how this has affected me. I'm tired of being tired and carrying around extra flabby fat! :) Time to get serious and I'm taking the P90X Challenge!! 177lbs and falling... I will be back to the weight I was when I graduated high school just a few short 7 years ago!!

Glad to hear about your test results, now you can hit it hard!!
Let me know how you like the P90X system, I'm interested to see how it works for you. Good luck and keep us posted.
