When I Started:
Jul, 2007
How I Started:
I started working out in 1997 and couldn't get 135 pounds off the bench. With a lot of on-again-off-again attempts, have not seriously worked out since 2005 but am re-committing to it.
Why I Love It:
Working out provides a better outlook on life and a self-confidence you can't achieve any other way.
How I Stay Motivated:
Tracking progress and looking at pictures of myself when I was completely out of shape.
BB Accomplishments:
I had a one-rep max bench of 270lbs in February of this year. Lost it after four months of no training but want to get back there and better.

I want to lose 5 inches off my waist and counter with muscle gains.
Goal (Long):
My core is too soft. I have to tighten up to improve my overall appearance, strength, and confidence. Eating cleaner and more attention to abs and back in my morning workouts will be the key. I had to realize that, now that I'm in my 40s, I can't just eat and workout with weights and expect to see the results I want without some cardiovascular training. Plus, the endorphins are awesome!
What do you do before your workout to get motivated and energized?
The drive to my gym is about 18 minutes so I listen to motivational music and focus on what I want to achieve in my workout. I imagine myself going through the motions of the routine as I drive.

What do you think about people who "grunt" loudly while working out? Do you do it?
I don't do it but have my ipod so it doesn't bother me when others do
About 42 days ago, I weighed in at 250 lbs. and had let my workouts deteriorate to about 2 or 3 low volume / low intensity sessions a week with no cardio. In other words, I wasn't doing anything and was eating junk food like there was no tomorrow. On July 12, I made the decision to lose the...
Yeah, the more you reinforce the good behaviors, the more ingrained and natural they will become.
I just put up my 6 week progress pictures.
I am pretty happy with my progress. I have an ambitious goal of breaking 240 by my birthday on October 9th. I better get cracking!
Keep pushing ahead!
