You can NEVER be satisfied with yourself... and when you realize you will never be happy, is when you will never give up.
What do I use to push myself?
Find someone you want to look like. Find someone that is achievable, with the same height and body type as you. Be it a famous person, or just someone that goes to your same gym. If you're natty, keep a role model that is natural as well.
Look, everyone loves Kai Greene and Arnold and Jay Cutler. But, without a lot of drugs, nobody will look like that natural.
Take me, for example. I am, and always will be, natural. Mostly because I'm too scared to put anything in my body that I am not sure of. Secondly, because, quite frankly, I feel natural guys look a LOT better. I admire huge body builders and their work effort, but I wouldn't want to look like them (well, except for Frank Zane, of course).
What keeps me gonig is finding someone that I admire. Someone that is technically achievable. My inspiration is Rob Riches. Natural, with wonderful proportions. And, with hard work... completely obtainable.
And don't aim for the stars. Find someone that is close to what you can achive in a few months/years time. Once you get there, find someone else. And again, and again. I promise you that the person or persons you want to look like have someone that THEY want to look like. You can never be satisfied.
This sport.... this hobby, whatever you want to call it, has a lot of vain people in it. And, that's more or less how we all got into it. Vanity. However, put that aside, and don't celebrate your achievments, but struggle against your shortcomings. Always improve yourself, be it through how you look, how much you can lift, how long you can run, etc.
Never be satisfied, and you will do well in anything you do. You will have people look at you and say "I want to look like that... I want to get THERE." But, there will never be a there. When they get "there," they will just want to take another step. It's called living.
Now go lift.
