When I Started:
Jul, 2007
How I Started:
I have been going to the gym since I was 13 - just mimicking what I saw other lifters do. My initial goals were to be in better shape for ice hockey. When I quit playing competetive hockey at 19, I continued to lift, but without hockey as cardio I started to gain more mass (fat and muscle). Last summer I met a fellow bodybuilder who helped inspire me to train to compete, and I desperately needed new fitness goals. On April 5th of this year I competed in the Fame West show (3rd place in the short class). My next goal is to place 2nd or better in the Fame West show in Vancouver in October, and eventually earn my natural pro card.
Why I Love It:
I love how in bodybuilding you have no competitors but yourself, no road blocks but your own mind and body. The ability to actually change and modify your own body is very rewarding, and one of the most difficult undertakings I believe there is.
How I Stay Motivated:
Continually think about the product that I will be putting on stage.
BB Accomplishments:
Competing in a show! Fame West 2008 in Vancouver, BC. (To anyone who hasn't competed, but has thought about it -just do it! Bodybuilders are a supportive group, and even if you dont think you have the greatest body just being on stage will point out your weaknesses and seeing the other competitors will motivate you for your future lifting endeavors. Get the first one out of your system, then focus on what you can do to really enhance yourself the next time you step foot on stage!
Such a weak point, especially after surgery, I cannot flex fully here as you can see the stitches and incision mark. Hope to improve on this greatly by October!
After my first competition on April 5th, I have decided to take my training to a new level, develop a new body, and embody a new persona as a bodybuilder. My first month April 7th - May 7th was dedicated to individual body parts (i.e. chest one day, arms another, shoulders, back, and...

Joe, I'm back from holidays bro!
Just had a look @ your arm shoulder BLAST! Nice volume. Those are tough workouts. What's new? How's the back? How's your progress in the gym? I ate poorly for a week, not so much junk food, but not eating enough. Only thing I had that was constant was my xtend lol
Looking good, Keep training hard!! We have an INBF show on the 9th of August in Arlington. It is a pro qualifier for the WNBF!! We would love to have you come and compete. www.unitedfitness.org

Thankssssss, but considering where you place hack squat in your workout--your #'s r SICK. I'm trying hard to bring up my hack squat! Wanted to let you know I'm on holidays, that's why I haven't posted any workouts. I'm still getting into the gym though.
Thanks for the words bro! Honestly I hate working out hung, I'm not 19 anymore. I have cut drinking waaaaay back though. It takes to much of a toll on me in the gym. Also, I pm'd ya some goods on back training.
100,000 that's TIGHT! Legs and backs win shows fo show! I can't wait to see where you are when your back is all healed up. NUTZZZZZZZZZZ! K, I posted yesterday's workout: upper-heavy. I felt like crap, but suffered through it. I'll post todays leg workout later tonight, and get some back talk to ya as well.
Lite weiiiiiight!
Ya it can be hard cause I have the guilty feelin as well. But my body needed it. Man was I drained this week. But I'm back at er in like an hour! Hey I'll send ya a personal message talkin BACK, and what has helping me to dial it in.
Dude, just hit up the picks. Your lookin good bro, a lot of improvement since I last saw ya in Pen. Your back needs more width, upper chest needs to be thicker as well. your legs look tight, but we all know legs win shows, so the bigger the better. your shoulders and traps are dialed in dude! And abs, need more definition. I'll throw ya some back advice soon.
Ya it's nice to see butts on here. I hope he commits to Oct, that would be unreal dude. My protein sources = cottage cheese, chicken, beef, fish, tuna, shakes, BCAA's, and eggs. Joe rush to the supp store and pick up xtend BCAA's. I think BCAA'z are the bomb. Take two/four scoops during the workout and sip on another couple scoops throughout the day.
Hey Joey. It's good to see you changing up your leg workout. You should take squat down to AT LEAST parallel. I go below that. You have to make sure you stretch and take it light for the first two sets as it can(is) hell on your knees. Not everyone's knees can take it though.
