I had always heard about working out, always watching the kids who were much more athletic than me doing sports while I sat back and ate junk food. I changed myself in the summer of 2005, dropping 47 pounds of fat. It left me pretty skinny, along with a growth spurt making me 6'5". I finally got around to lifting and I've kept up with it since.
Why I Love It:
I like watching my body adapt. I like watching any body adapt. It's something that we all have that is quite amazing, watching how our body tries to give us help by increasing muscle size to make the task at hand easier. A spectacular thing the body is.
How I Stay Motivated:
I started lifting weights, really focusing on it, when my mom died of rectal-colon cancer last November. It is my relief.
BB Accomplishments:
Right now? My chest increased in size but I'll have to measure it. I get complements about it all the time at school. I have to say though, a lot of you on here are huge. That's what I want to be. I'm looking forward to this.

Yeah I just got started in further changing my life as I have recently started picking up weights. I as fascinated with "Pumping Iron", Schwarzenneger and Mike Katz. I was originally an obese person, maxing out at 250 pounds. I dropped all that weight through large amounts of walking and...
I originally was very plus size. I'm not sure what my body fat index was, but I'm sure that it was definently in the unhealthy range. Two years ago, I thankfully stood up, walked outside, breathing in the air that had grown to be so alien to me, and began to walk. I was tired of being fat.
Now I've lost 47 pounds, with my current weight of 193 lbs, along with a growth spurt that has shot me up to 6'5". I figure that I'm long enough, so why not be wide enough also? I want my chest and shoulders to be wider, thicker. I want my arms to be cut, thick, large, seeming as if they could do anything. I want my stomach to be flat, the definition of well cut abs and obliques immenatin from my body.
And of course, I suspect that "Big Lou" had some help from special "supplements" that I wouldn't recommend you use! Things are going pretty well for me, I just got back from vacation a lot tanner, a little thinner, and apparently just as strong as when I left. Ready to hit the gym hard again though and get back to making some serious gains myself.
Well, you've got a little time to decide, of course. But, I'd think that if you still want to get bigger after 235 - and somehow I think you will - I'd bet you could carry 250 on your frame without any problem at all. By the way, just for reference at his top condition Lou Ferrigno claimed to weigh 315 lbs at a height of 6'5"!
I saw your new stats - just 12 lbs to go towards that goal! Plus your arms are still growing, too (bonus). Keep up that great work - you'll be setting a new weight goal in no time at this rate!
alright thanks for advice man, i usually do preacher curls and also db curls, and for triceps, dips, extensions and skullcrushers, hmm just gotta be patient now.
hey man you look great, i also went through a massive growth spurt, 6'5'' UNITE !, anyay you got an awesome shape, 218lbs looks good on you, at 235 you'll be beastly
Preparing ahead is what a friend of mine, who is a competitive bodybuilder, swears by. It's a lot of work when you include the shopping and prep, but it's only once a week and sacrifices have to be made in order to get to where you want to be! Just keep the results in mind and you'll continue to make excellent progress.
Raw eggs, that sure reminds me of how bodybuilding was done in the "old days" of guys like Steve Reeves, Larry Scott, Dave Draper. Your protein shakes sound good and healthy, btw. Have you tried finding time once a week to cook in bulk and then freezing what you need? Then you just need to thaw in the microwave when your ready to eat. What about hard boiled eggs? Just a couple thoughts. Hang in there - it's worth a little gagging to get where you want to be!
Nutrition is the tough part - if it were easy I'd look more like you and less like me (lol)! Which foods are you having trouble stomaching? Actual food, ie turkey, fish, etc. or supplements?
Just thought I'd check to see how things are going this week. I noticed a new side-pose that I hadn't seen before and gave some comments. All in all, I'm still impressed with the gains you've been able to make, especially these past three months or so. As always, keep up the great work!
So you are closer than I thought - your plan seems sound. I've always understood that the ideal diet would be 60% carbs, 30% protein, and 20% fat - of course in your case you'll probably want to increase the protein and lower the fat. But you seem to be on the right track without my advice! Keep up the great work. I think the end of July early August is very doable to reach that next benchmark!
I see that you've set a new goal of getting to 235 (at least I think it's new). How long are you taking to put on the 25 lbs? I know that you'll be careful to make sure that the weight gain is from muscle and not fat. Though there will be some fat to be sure, I'm betting that you can reach a pretty solid 235 in about 3 months as long as you increase the calories and keep working hard. Good luck!
Awww, you're making me blush. I'm glad I can be of help - I remember what it was like when I was your age and I really wanted to "get big" but I didn't have the courage or the support to get started. So, I try to encourage others, like yourself, where I so you don't have to experience "a dream deferred" if you get what I mean. You've made excellent progress so far and I think you are capable of a lot more! Keep lifting and growing - the sky's the limit!
I know it seems that everytime you post new pictures here I am to comment on them - but I've got to say "wow" I didn't fully realize how much your arms have grown until I saw those pictures in the mirror. Your triceps have really filled in. If you had asked me back when you first started if I thought you could put on this much muscle at your height I probably would have said no. But, you're clearly proving me wrong. Keep up the great work - you're developing an extremely impressive build!
Hopefully it helps you to reach your goals. There are lots of different approaches and thoughts when it comes to the proper diet, and everyone's body reacts a little different. I'm not an expert, but I think your best bet is to keep trying new combinations and monitor closely any changes in size and strength (which I know you are doing). Bodybuilding isn't Rocket Science, but sometimes it sure comes close!
Every two hours should be plenty - and she is of course correct. I'm sure you know, but don't forget most of your long term energy comes from carbs. Even with a high protein diet most of your calories should come from carbs (but not the simple sugar kind). I'd choose carbs in their purest form - rice, potato, sweet potato, as opposed to breads for example. Keep eating and lifting, you'll get the right proportions figured out!
If you are losing weight the I think you definitley need to get more calories in. You're right with your height and age you probably will have to take in a lot more than the average trainer. Now that you are lifting heavier you are taxing your body more so you need fuel and rest. How often are you eating?
I just checked your progress chart - a half-inch gain in about a month is very good. I would say the new routine and partner is really paying off for you. Keep up the great work!
