When I Started:
Jun, 2007
How I Started:
In 2001 I was 165 lbs. with no muscle whatsoever. I wanted to look and feel better, so started with a barbell and dumbells at home.I didn't know what I was doing & gained lots of mass(fat) but hardly any muscle. I got more serious, and joined a gym in June of '07.
Why I Love It:
Relieves stress. Makes me more confident in everyday life.
How I Stay Motivated:
I'm kinda competitive by nature....BodySpace motivates me!!!
What mistakes did you make when you first started working out?
"Bulking" by eating as much food as possible, not paying attention to what types of food I was eating & not lifting heavy enough to counter my excess consumption. all in all leading to mass fat gain

What is the one tip you would give somebody who is just getting started?
I am half done week 8 of the daily video trainer and I'm begining to plateau. I 've been stuck at 184 for around three weeks now. calories are already pretty low so I don't want to cut them any more and lose muscle.... time to up the intensity during cardio, I guess..... I'm also going to...
Got some motivation from my trainer after my month long break and now he is demanding i kick ass for the next 5 months so I can mop the floor with all the other girls on stage...just jokes! But yes, im feeling the pressure and feeling cool under it. Whats new with you?
Yeah, that's the plan though if I'm trying to lose fat! Weight will drop, of course, but because I am still lifting heavily, most of the lost weight will be fat, with minimal muscle loss. (Ideally).
Looks like you've come a long way! The way I did it....I Cut 30 lbs of fat to start off, with light weights, high reps, short rests. I'd hit the speed bag for 45 minutes in the morning 5 days a week(great cardio), then lift in the afternoons. I was lucky I lost about 25 lbs in the first 3 months I was deployed. RIPPED FUEL extreme cut helped I'm sure! After that I just started building after the weight loss! What do you do for your back??? I cant seem to get much mass back there!
Hey man.. I haven't been to the gym in over a week, had some fam issues to deal with and right about now I'm feeling the effects of the slipage, I have a little over a week before I go to Daytona too so that won't help, after that I need to go balls out, I came so far before and through the holidays that I can't let it get out of hand, you know, thanks for checking in, how are you doing with your recent changes to your routine, the before and after pics are telling for sure, later!!
when I read that in your blog that's what I thought you might have done in adding them in on your back day.. yeah they take a little getting used to but it's a great burn with not too much weight.. Sounds good.. later
Oh yeah.. definitely with dumbbells.. sorry if I forgot to mention that.. this is an ego-less exercise for sure but good for a great pump to cap off an arm workout.. you'll love them..
Yeah don't worry about the stalker/creep thing.. I'd love to be able to share anything that will help my dudebro's out!! so any time at all, feel free to send a note.. keep me posted!!
