When I Started:
Nov, 2008
How I Started:
I've been working out off and on since 2005 but I started training for my first bodybuilding competition, the NGA Alabama Natural Open (www.ngaalabamaopen.com) which is July 11, 2009.
Why I Love It:
It's the best high in the world and it's turns something like hard work which you can't see or feel into something tangible and I dig that :)
How I Stay Motivated:
I think of the people I've inspired to start living an active lifestyle, it's like I'm a hero to them so if I slack off, I'm just going to let them down and I don't want to do that.
BB Accomplishments:
When I started training for my first competition in November 2008 I was at 24% bodyfat/163 pounds and now I am at 8%/125lbs. :D

What JessTheBest Is Up To:
Nov 27, 2009
JessTheBest changed Body Fat from 16.3% to 13%, a loss of 3.3 percentage points in 40 days
I had just started training for my first bodybuilding competition. I honestly didn't think it was possible to get in bodybuilder shape but everyone has the ability to reach their genetic potential but they put the work into making it happen. Not all bodybuilders have perfect genetics, I'm proof that ...
Now since the bodyfat is gone, I want more muscle :D
Goal (Long):
My previous goal was to build a "show and go" body in which I was lean yet I had the strength to back it up. I used to have people argue with me that you couldn't have both and I always disagreed. Now I know for a fact it's possible. I'm prepping for my first bodybuilding competition but at the same time, my one-rep maxes have increased, I can finally do dead hang pullups, bodyweight dips, one arm pushups, etc... I mean it's one thing to look fit but to be able to back it up, that says a lot.
So from here, I want to get stronger (dips with 45lb plates attached) and I want to put on 10-15 pounds of muscle while keeping my bodyfat around 12% during off-season.

I totally believe in the power of bodyweight exercises in order to get stronger/build muscle/feel invincible/look super sexy :)
I used to have zero upper body strength when I was younger. I remember in 4th grade, the only "F" I had ever made in my academic career was in P.E. because...
Well Ms Greystone high roller :) Just kidding. A guy that I work with used to work out at the Y at Greystone. He said it was awesome. My gym is tiny, lol. Its locally owned and the owner is so nice. He's always in there and will answer any questions. I really like it. I used to work out at Andrews in Vestavia, that is before they locked the doors and took my $. Still pissed at them for that.
Thats awesome!! You have my respect sista! Well, you will be well prepared for the next show in Atl. Best of luck on that show. How are things over in the Brook??
Good deal. Just hang in there till Sat. I've never stepped on stage or been "ripped" for that matter, but from what I hear, your first show is a learning experience. Much kudo's to you ma'am for doing the show! That would be my ultimate dream come true to do a show. I was thinking of going to see that show, but I've got to much to do this weekend. Best wishes and Kick ASS!
Well congrats again! You definitly deserve all the recognition, compliments and the great feeling of it all for what you have achieved! Have a great week!
