When I Started:
Nov, 2006
How I Started:
I have always had an easy time at running and other aerobic activity, but even when I devote a significant amount of time and energy to that type of exercise, I fail to see major results. I have done my homework, and I think strength training could be right for me. Fortunately, I also have a supportive husband.
Why I Love It:
Strength training seems natural to me. I used to fear it because I did not want to bulk up, but after all my research, I feel that my preconceptions have been false. I am ready to give strength training a chance--I think the benefits are bound to outweigh the costs. I get more excited to lift weights than I ever did to run!
How I Stay Motivated:
It is simple to stay motivated when I think about the difference in mood I experience on a daily basis. Moreover, strength training lets me know that I am advancing: The soreness of my muscles reminds me to practice correct posture, lets me know that tissue is building, and encourages me to nourish myself!
BB Accomplishments:
I am still learning the basics, but my major accomplishment is in my drive. Although I still practice cardio often, it is not what gets me to the gym. I go to the gym because I love THE BURN! I love to feel and know that I am making progress!
After my initial decision to start lifting weights seriously, I found that I didn't have the discipline required. I have gone through several serious life changes and allowed myself to stop working out and dieting regularly. Now I'm married, we have our first home, and a dog! I have a new job...
You are doing a super job of transforming your body especially using a home gym. You should be very proud of what you have accomplished.
I congatulate you and urge you to keep ripping it up!
