Lindbergh Sr. High Attended 2001 to 2005 Saint Louis, Missouri United States
When I Started:
Nov, 2006
How I Started:
Part of my college's requirements is taking a general health class. My teacher for the class helped me start lifting to gain strength.
Soon after, I started in martial arts and did Tae Kwon Do, and now I've moved into Mixed Martial Arts and am looking to fight.
Why I Love It:
Balance, plain and simple. The relaxation I experience after a good training session or lifting session, as well as the zen like feeling after sparring that washes out all doubt in my mind that I am alive.
How I Stay Motivated:
Feeling myself get better, faster, stronger. Seeing the cuts develop and watching myself inherit the warrior culture that my soul belongs to.

What Jayke Is Up To:
Nov 17, 2009
Jaykechanged Weight from 163 lbs. to 162.8 lbs., a 0.2 lb. loss in 11 days
This was me at 175 about six months before I started trying to get better. That soda in front of me is a mountain dew, which I can't really stomach more than half a can of anymore.
Front Flexed. You can really see how much striking I do in this one, methinks.
Improve strength, conditioning and technique while maintaining my walk weight of 163.
Goal (Long):
Train hard, fight easy!
After getting my first fight punked out from under me last minute (Opponent switch at the weigh ins... dammit...), I've taken it as a blessing and decided that it's time to build on the foundation I've gotten from fight camp.
Specifically, I want to get my estimated lean weight number above 140 where its sitting now, and generally solve a few of the problems I've noticed in my training.
Problems to be solved:
- Punch Strength is low in stand up. I need to improve this as a backup.
- Clinch isn't bad, but I could use a bit of work on my knees and the strength of my clinch.
- Jiu Jitsu Skills. I need to solidify my ground game plan, and improve its flow.
- Overall strength is something that's limiting me. I need to work it up so that I'm not as hopeless when I get something pinned down.
Ways to solve them:
- Weight lifting regularly will indeed solve many of my complaints.
- Adding a day or two of outside cardio should help me improve and maintain weight ratio.
- Actually showing up to gi jiu jitsu will solve itself...
Doobz is a pretty cool guy. He's given me a lot of help, and been real supportive of my efforts in the past. Seriously, ask him for help, he's down for it.
What is the one tip you would give somebody who is just getting started?
Make it count. Don't start just for a bit. Keep it going.

What are your secrets for making healthy food taste great?
There's a lot of healthy food that tastes great. A chicken breast with a smattering of 3:1 Salt/pepper and low-fat barbeque sauce is awesome, specially when it's fresh.
Salads are another favorite, just be careful with the amount of dressing. There's a lot of healthy food that tastes great. A chicken breast with a smattering of 3:1 Salt/pepper and low-fat barbeque sauce is awesome, specially when it's fresh.
So I'm devoting the last six weeks of the semester to the following goals:
1.) Hit 169lbs with a 32" waist and 10% Bodyfat by the end of finals week, May 16th. UFC 2009: Undisputed ships on May 19th, and I found out you can use a similar scanning system with the XboxLIVE Camera to make...
hey jayke. Long time no talk bro. Fill me on your training man lol. I decided to make a site due to a man who inspired me to do so. (elvisc.net) I've only told like 3 people since I want like 8-9 posts before I make it public. You should get a wordpress or livejournal too bro to track your progress. - Elvis
ok, what about flexability, grapplers need to be extremely flexable for mma. since u have speed work on ur power, leg extentions and duck walks will increase power in ur kicks, I suggest atleast i lap around a cage per day w/ duck walks and when the soreness goes away increase it or u can carry a weight over ur head
try new things! Hows ur lateral movement? how accurately do u strike? how well do u kick? hows ur takedown defense? these r things u need to ask ur self. do compound movements to build explosive strength like power cleans or find and old beat up car and push it or run w/ a weight vest kettle bell swings. if u want i can write u out a training routine for striking and u can try it and let me know how u like it but i need info from u 1st.
bro, i don't believe for one minute that ur not good at anything in the ring. everybody has their thing whether its movement or boxing or takedown defense or something. let me know if u want my help and ill try to hook up w/ some drills or fight plans or something(15yrs in martial arts total i gotta be able to show u somethin)
hey bro I got your email and your facebook add ... I will respond ASAP I promise to your email .... I like your new pictures bro they are really showing how your definition and confidence in your physique are improving good job
