I wanted to get big and strong. I started bodybuilding while I was in college and had great early gains. In fact, the second semester I worked out, I gained 40 lbs, 165 to 205, and my waist didn't change. At that point I was hooked, but I hurt my back doing stiff legged deadlifts and my gains came to a screeching halt. I slowly rehabed my back, and while I was in medical school I grew to a lean 223. I now have a wife of 12 years and 5 children and have lost most of my previous gains because of stress and lack of exercise. I'm ready to regain it.
Why I Love It:
I need it for my mental health. Of course it makes me feel better physically too.
How I Stay Motivated:
I haven't lately.
BB Accomplishments:
I've never entered a contest, but I have gained 50 lbs of muscle.

I turn 40 at the end of this year. I want to be bigger, stronger, and healthier at 40 than I was at 26 when I got married.
Goal (Long):
I need to get leaner and stronger and healthier. This will improve me mentally and physically and make me a better father and husband.
I was in great shape at age 24, but then I entered the clinical phase of medical school, got married at 26, then spent 3 years in residency, then began having children and building my practice. I'm stressed out, tired, and depressed. It's well past time to prioritize my health.
My peak weight was 223lbs (and maybe 16% body fat) during my second year of medical school. I felt better then than I have since. I want to get leaner and stronger than I was then.
Another long term goal that I gave up on years ago is to bench press 225 for 25 reps. At my strongest I could do 15 or 16 reps. I'm now reviving that goal. I'm not ready to pick a deadline yet for my goals, not until I reacclimate to training.
I've made good progress over the last 2 months, but 2 weeks ago I injured my R pec-delt area doing wide grip chins. I called an old friend Max, who is an accomplished bodybuilder and personal trainer. He assures me he can take me to new heights. I look forward to seeing him tomorrow for...
congrats on your past achievements ... and for keeping yourself at a pretty good level of shape even when you stopped working out. Just don't stop after 3 months. :) That's just the beginning of improving your conditioning for the rest of your life. :)
