When I Started:
May, 2005
How I Started:
After losing 20 lbs. on Weight Watchers in 2001 and maintaining it for a few years, I read something about how you could increase your metabolism by gaining muscle. This sounded really good to me, as I was probably only eating about 1200 calories a day. So, I started lifting, packed on about 10 lbs. over the course of a year, then lost about 20 in a cut. All of my hard work has finally paid off. I'm definitely happier with my body than ever before. Over time, I'd still like to add a lot more muscle in my lower body.
Why I Love It:
I love the definition I've added to my arms (and my lower body, too - although, I've got a long way to go). And it seems like the way to stay hot all through your 30s, 40s, 50s, and beyond is through bodybuilding - growing those muscles and not giving into the inevitable slow-down of metabolism that happens to most people.
How I Stay Motivated:
Vanity - sheer vanity. :o)
BB Accomplishments:
I used to be 35 lbs. heavier and 33% bf! Now I have definition in my arms and legs, and I'm actually starting to achieve a butt!

What JVo Is Up To:
Jan 6, 2010
JVo changed Body Fat from 15.9% to 16%, a gain of 0.1 percentage point in 1 day
Maintaining my body the way it is now (tired of bulking and cutting). Making moderate gains wherever possible, but more importantly making this lifestyle fit my life better. Creating new goals for myself that are outside of bodybuilding...
Hey! Good luck on your cut.
I have always had reload days once every week or two to try and keep my metabolism from getting too lazy. I have thought about a real cycle but never tried it yet.
Love the avatar :)
How did your legs feel after your workout? did it help? Mine felt much better and the soreness went away after I worked them out again.
Have a good week!
It's ok, I'm just glad to hear from ya. I actually am pregnant now. We decided to start trying (who knows if one is ever 100% ready?!)thinking it may take a while & we got lucky. Hopefully I'll keep working out cuz I'm already packing on the lbs. & it's really early Argh!!
