When I Started:
Jan, 2008
How I Started:
In January 2008 I watched the 5th season of Biggest Loser. After the first episode I got on the scale at home and weighed 305 lbs. I realized that I was just like those people on the show in desperate need of losing weight. It was time for a change. I started dieting at home but it wasn't enough so I joined Weight Watchers in April of 2008. I began my journey to becoming healthier and learned that it's not a diet, it's a lifestyle. With the support of W.W., much better eating habits, a lot of hard work, and exercise I managed to lose over 135 lbs and am currently weighing in at 170.
Now that I have reached my weight loss goal I really want to start working out and building some muscle to help improve my appearance and tighten up the loose skin from the weight loss. And since we all have to start somewhere I thought I would begin the first steps of my new body building journey here.
Why I Love It:
I love the way I feel after a good work out. Yeah it's tiring and I feel sore afterwards but I still feel energized and it improves my overall mood. I love knowing that this will not only help my appearance and how I feel about the way I look in the mirror, but it is also great for my health.
My first major accomplishment was reaching my weight loss goal.
my second accomplisment is right here. Beginning my body building goals and dreams and sharing the journey with all of you.
This was taken just after I made the choice to begin my weight loss journey. I was around 300 lbs when this was taken.
I'm happy with the weight loss. About 172 in this photo. Now it's time to work on gaining lean muscle, shedding a few more pounds of fat, and keeping it natural.
To lose 5% body fat and gain 5 pounds of muscle by September.
Goal (Long):
I've worked hard to lose the weight and I feel better about myself than I have in years. That was the first transformation. Now I want to reduce my bodyfat level by 5% and increase my muscle mass by at least 5 - 10 pounds so that I feel more confident when I'm around other people. This is the beginning of the second transformation. Being new to bodybuilding and weight lifting I haven't learned what I am capable of and my goal is discover what my limits are and then gradually increase them.
Weight Goal:
I want to LOSE 14 lb
Bodyfat Goal:
12%

How has bodybuilding and fitness helped and/or changed your family life?
I'm more confident in myself and find that I am a bit more patient because my body is not as sore and I am not struggling to keep up. Having the family working on living healthier has brought us all closer together because we're all doing it together.I'm more confident in myself and find that I am a bit more patient because my body is not as sore and I am not struggling to keep up. Are you a parent?
Yes
How has bodybuilding and fitness helped you to be a better parent?
I have more energy and stamina to play with my kids. We can go places and do things together that were not really doable before. It makes my girls happy and that makes me happy.

How has bodybuilding and fitness helped you in your career?
Being able to work harder without using near the energy and not being nearly as tired.
Hi! Happy Tuesday to you! :) My w/o's have never been better! Every day I push myself harder to do better than the day before, to lift harder & heavier, to push out another rep. and cardio is right on track! I'm so excited for Feb. 1st! I think I will have some awesome progress made to show on here. And how are you doing?!?!?!
HEY JASON, THANKS FOR THE IMPUT. I LOST MY INITIAL WEIGHT ON A 60-80 CARB DIET. ITS A DIABETIC DIET. I AM UNCERTAIN ABOUT FAT BURNERS. WAY TO MANY WARNINGS TO SUIT ME!! TRAINER SAYS I DON'T EAT ENOUGH TO BUILD MUSCLE, THEN TURNS AROUND AND SAYS I NEED TO CUT PORTIONS TO REDUCE BODY FAT. I DON'T KNOW. HAVE A GOOD ONE! -MIKE
WHAT'S YOUR PLAN FOR LOSING 5% OF YOUR BODY FAT? THAT'S ABOUT THE SAME AMOUNT I AM TRYING TO DROP! I'VE BEEN WALKING 3 DAYS AWAY ON THE TREADMILL FOR AN HOUR. ONLY BEEN DOING FOR A WEEK AND A HALF, SO DON'T REALLY SEE TO MUCH DIFFERENCE YET. -MIKE
Hi Jason! THANK YOU for your words of support and encouragement. It's nice to hear, especially when motivation is running low.
YOU have also made an AMAZING transformation with your weight loss too! Great job on that and keep working hard for July ~ it'll be here before you know it! :)
