When I Started:
Dec, 1994
How I Started:
I joined the wrestling team in 7th grade, and wrestled at 75lbs. Part of our wrestling practice was making our way trough a universal lifting station. During my 8th grade year I moved up to 95lbs. My freshman year of high school I reached 125lbs and each year of high I took body conditioning, which was 1.5 hours of working out. I never supplemented, and only gained 10 lbs over 4 years. After high school I began reading a lot of magazines and forums on weight training routines, nutrition, and the whole nine yards. I never stayed real consistant, going hard and true for several months and backing off due to binge drinking and partying. Combining the lack of consistancy and dedication with a high motabolism and poor genetics, equals really crappy growth over a long period of time. Over the past two years I have made continuous growth gains slowly, partiually due to interruptions from major career changes, moving, purchasing a house and everything that goes a long with an adult life not solely set around the gym. Now I am hoping that I can stay dedicated and consistant, and keep growing towards my goals without taking steps back like past experiences.
Why I Love It:
It's like meditation. It's time for me to clear my mind, focus, and push myself. I like the feeling of achievment, I love the pump, and when I leave the gym I feel accomplished and a since of pride. I like being surrounded by the type of people the gym provides. People interested in like goals.
How I Stay Motivated:
Looking in the mirror generally is motivating enough. I'm never satisfied with my reflection. I'm also motivated by seeing the dedication and results of others, male or female.
My overall goal is to be happy with myself. I've never had a problem with my physique, but I am always looking to improve on it. It has always been tough for me to put on weight, but over the last two years I am slowing gaining without losing defin
Goal (Long):
I would like to gain 15-20 lbs naturally over the next three years, and be able to maintain the weight with 8-9% bf. I also want to be able to manintain a regular lifestyle and enjoy simple everyday pleaseures without going to the obsessive extremes to reach my goals. I'm not looking to sacrifice typical enjoyment, like having a few drinks with friends every now and then or picking up a dessert after dinner. I realize that competing is not a goal of mine, but rather looking good for myself, and being proud of my personal achiements.
I'm planning on changing things up a little. I'm going to keep it simple, heavy and hard three days a week. The way it's going to work: Weight training days: tuesday, thursday, saturday. On the first tuesday I will work high volume low reps on Chest and Back with compound lifts such...
