I've always been pretty slender but a few years ago after my second kid I started gaining weight around my middle. I hated seeing my fat rolls so I went up a size in jeans and started wearing loose shirts to try and hide them. A few months after giving birth to my third child I realized I had to change. I was so uncomfortable with how I looked. I remember being grossed out when I saw myself naked in front of a full length mirror. This made me really self-conscious because I could only imagine how grossed out my husband must be when he looked at me too. I drastically changed my diet and started eating super clean. I lost about 15 pounds in 3 months and finally started to like my body again. I still needed to lose some fat around my middle but my arms and legs were beginning to look too skinny. I joined a gym and started working out with weights. My body began to transform and I soon looked better than I had ever looked before!
Why I Love It:
In December 2008, my personal life was falling apart. I had a premature baby girl that did not survive and was trying to deal with that emotionally while also dealing with some major family and friend drama. I felt so out of control, like the world was going to pieces and there was nothing I could do to stop it. It was during this experience that my time at the gym became so important to me. It was a couple hours a day that I could tune out my problems and just take care of myself. I soon realized that there are very few things we actually have control of in life. We can't control how other people treat us and we definately can't control the sad, unpredictable trials of life such as sickness and death. The one thing I can control is how good my body looks. My effort, time and dedication in the gym and how clean I eat directly results in the way I look. It's all up to me! I love knowing that that is one thing no one can take away from me!
How I Stay Motivated:
Seeing the transformation my body has made is motivation for me to keep workin hard! But all of the wonderful comments and support from everyone on this site helps too!
This was taken about three weeks after the birth of my third child. I weighed 130 lbs, my heaviest weight ever. A month later I grew tired of being fat and became determined to start shedding the pounds.
