Because of 1)Metabolic disease 2)Eating disorder and 3)laziness, I gained over 100 lbs since my early 20's. I got sick of yo-yo dieting, and had adjustable gastic banding surgery in 9/05. I lost some weight initially, but did not eat right or exercise - and predictably I stalled. After 14 months I was still over 200 lbs and not happy with how I looked, felt, etc.
I have a close family member who, at 70, lost the function of her legs because of diabetes and poor self-care. Knowing that I have a genetic risk of losing mobility at a fairly young age scared the crap out of me, and that is what really got me into the gym.
Of course, now I'm hooked! :D
Why I Love It:
I love the feeling of accomplishment AFTER it's over ;) But, still, I can think of many worse things than working out.
How I Stay Motivated:
Journaling in the Over 35 section. Visiting the Bodyspaces of my amazing freinds! Reminding myself that this is the only body I have and I must be good to it! I know I am worth every bit of it :D
BB Accomplishments:
I have lost 16 lbs, and learned so much about my body and how it reacts to different workouts, foods, ect. It has become a fun science project! ;)

My back does not look much better, sigh ... I swear, no more root beer, vodka tonics or french fries! I know I can do this! I WILL be a lean, mean machine!
I have totally backslid since summer so now I have to start over :( I am 200+ lbs, and my belly is totally jelly. I really need to take long, hard looks at these pics to knock myself back into that zone where I won't indulge in the junk. I don't ever want to see my stomach look like this again!
I am ready to have the body of my dreams! I now realize the only way it can be done is through hard work and dedication. I would like to weigh 145-150 lbs (I am 5'7")and be trim and muscular. I would like to not be ashamed of my abs! To prove to the world and myself that age is just a number!
I know. My granddaughter is NINE this October! I can't believe it! Saw her on Monday and she is really growing up fast! Still wants to workout with grandpa so that is a good thing! I don't see that happening for much longer :-(
