Overall Goal: Finished P90X and I loved the results. I dropped 15 lbs total weight, but I would say I dropped 20 lbs of fat and gained 5 lbs of muscle. I'm still not where I want to be, but I'm much closer than I was before...
Fit Status:
Started new lifting program last week and it feels good to get back to weight training after P90.

When I Started:
How I Started:
I actually started lifting as a teenager due to football, Water Polo, Diving, etc, and when I moved on to College, I continued lifting for sports.
Once I was done with school I would hit the gym daily after work or on my ship when I was out to sea (former coastie). I've always lifted to maintain my shape or improve myself after slacking off for extended periods. About two years ago I found myself focusing much more intently in the weightroom, and started creating goals for myself. I'm really enjoying the improvement.
Why I Love It:
I love the stress release of working out, and then the post-workout euphoria after pushing myself hard. I love being in shape and seeing the benefit of my workouts on the basketball court or football field. Feeling good at the beach and pool side is always nice too...
How I Stay Motivated:
I don't have too much trouble staying motivated in the gym because my workout is an established part of my daily routine Monday-Saturday. Every day at lunch I know I'll be in the gym. If I'm not, then something went wrong. I also schedule my meetings around my gym time to ensure I never miss. As a former military guy, routine is everything. Saturday mornings I like to wake up and hit the gym immediately...then the rest of the day is my own.
As for the morning cardio sessions, that is a different story. I've got two big dogs that need as much exercise as I do, so I think of it as being an injustice to them if I don't get them out there. The alarm going off at 5 AM sucks, but it is the price I have to pay in order to meet my goals.

Goal (Long):
My next goal is to apply the pace-based or heart-rate based principles of P90 to regular weight training. I started my new program last week and I was pretty damn sore after each weight training day, so I know I'm doing things right. I love keeping my heart rate up and flowing from exercise to exercise because I know I'm burning fat, but I also feel like I'm building muscle as I keep in the 8-10 rep range. We'll see how it goes in a few months when I post new pics.
Weight Goal:
I want to LOSE 5 lb

19%

what a great story and far more entertaining than I had imagined! very cool. what a killer way to commemmorate a special time. big time props to you, your wife (and your liver!)LOL
Hey, thanks for the add, Kyle, and for the great compliment/motivation. You are in great shape.....those 5am wakeup calls and lunch time workouts have given you an awesome physique!
The change up is so important..you are right on. I wasted so many months doing the same old routines. Now I know better. I am working on timed volume training now. You do as many reps per set in a given time. Then next time you try to beat your last number!
