How I Started:
I have always had a passion for a healthy lifestyle. I was ran track, played volleyball and basketball in my middle school days. Later in high school, I was part of the drill team and performed in many school talent events. After high school, I worked the front desk/sales at Bally Total Fitness and that is when my love for the gym and weights began. Although, I've spent years working out and managed to stay healthy, it wasn't until this past year I began to focus more on "TRANSFORMING" my body vs. just being "healthy".....if that makes any sense.
I DO BELIEVE I AM ON THE ROAD TO SUCCESS.
Why I Love It:
What is there not to love about it? I love the adrenaline rush, the sweat, the self-confidence and great sense of stress relief I feel after every single workout. If there was one person I can inspire to live a healthier lifestyle - I've accomplished so much.
How I Stay Motivated:
When I began to take weight training seriously, my former workout partner helped me stay motivated. I also hired two personal trainers (on two seperate occasions). After the last trainer, my former workout partner continued to encourage me and pushed me to my limit. I even remember the days wherein we would bicker amoungst ourselves because I wanted to give up. That soon past and unfortunatley, currently there isn't ANYONE to hold me accountable for my training other than myself and my nutritionist. NUMBERS DO NOT LIE. From June 2009 at 16% body fat, I shot up to 22% body fat by October 2009. This is what happens when life just grabs you and slaps you in the face. Which meant, I was letting myself crumble -physically and emotionally.
But one day, I took a look at myself in the mirror and said "NO MORE! THIS IS NOT ME!" I wasn't built to break. My motivation/determination/strength now comes from MY GOD ALMIGHTY, MY SON, and MY FAMILIES UNCONDITIONAL LOVE AND SUPPORT!
Like Pastor G.F. Watkins once said, "NO MUSCLE (including the heart) WILL GROW UNTIL IT IS COMPLETEY FATIGUED"

Why do you like having a workout partner? What are the benefits?
At the moment, my sister has been working out with me. I don't know how long it will last, but I definitely take full advantage of her being there. She will spot on the days I decide to lift/squatheavier and always manages to crack and joke now and then to lighten up the "intensity". lol But in return, I give her a hell of a work-out!
