I am training to compete in the decathlon at the 2012 Olympics.
Goal (Long):
The decathlon is a 10 event contest over two days: 100m, shot put, discuss, javelin, pole vault, 400m, high jump, long jump, 110m high hurdles, 1500m. Each event has its own techniques which I will work on over time. My first task is to simply gain the speed, power, and jumping ability that is most crucial in all the events. Diet, rest, and training must be properly balanced to increase fast twitch muscle growth and overall physical ability.
By next year I plan to compete in my first meets and gain the knowledge from competition. I will not have coaches or help so it is important I go over and above in the running and jumping events. My goal is to do well enough on my own to get a coach interested in training me, possibly a sponsor and continue from there.
I will than go to the Olympic trials in June of 2012 and must place in the top 3 to advance to the Olympics. My goal is to not only win the gold medal but break the world record. I am confident I can achieve this goal, and so I do not attempt it for myself, but to motivate, inspire, and show others what they can achieve. No one believes I can do this, they do not believe I can do this, because they do not believe they can. Anyone, can accomplish, anything.

What is the most common reason that somebody gets injured while lifting?
Most people get injured because there body is not strong enough to deal with the level of stress. I think even if you perform a bad lift, if you have properly worked up to what your doing, your body can deal with the stress from a bad lift. Bones, ligaments, muscle, skin, it all has to be given time and training to build to deal with stress. By the end of october I will have gained 20lbs since october of last year. Thats just under 2lbs a month. It so strange I used to dream of being at the weights I am at and it is here. I will be over 200lbs by the end of october, its so surreal. Although I am more concerned with my ability then...
Forgot 1 thing. I use alot of whey powder. Even with my meals I try to add some whey powder because it is apparantely better utilized. I also use a weight gainer powder between meals. Just started Nitrix(full body pumps) by bsn and a axis-ht(testosterone booster). Lets see what happens!
HEY, Your question about dieting. . . well basically I shoot for 25g of protein per meal. 6 meals a day. 3 hours apart. Try to do carbs with each meal except for meal before bed (cut down on fat) I also throw in a couple of table spoons of flax seed oil where I can. I have been steady gaining since I started. Dieting clean and heavey weights are what get me results. Dont skip meals!
