How I Started:
Saw Lee Haney on the cover of Flex. Begged my Mom to let me lift weights. She was afraid it would stunt my growth ! I was 6'2",240 lbs,14 yrs old. Started out at a powerlifting gym owned by Ernie Nagy, he was a powerlifting legend from Weirton,Wv. The gym was in his basement and was only open 3 days a week. Monthly dues were $10.00 a month. If you didn't train right he wouldn't let you lift there.
Why I Love It:
Makes me feel so much better. Gives me a sense of accomplishment. I really enjoy training hard then seeing the results.
How I Stay Motivated:
If I didn't work out I would just be another fatass...I'm never happy, I want to see how big I can get. Someday I would like to see my abs....
I've always been big and strong. But, I've always had too much bodyfat. People don't call me fat, they say you're just big ! Well I want to see more of the muscle I've worked so hard for !
Awesome transformation. She's hot, dedicated, focused, and most of all she seems like a really nice person. She has such a positive attitude always. Inspiring !
Today is an off day for me. I hit it hard 3 days in a row. I've been doing an hour of cardio every workout. I do a 30 mins on the treadmill before the weights, then 30 mins on the eliptical. The fat just wasn't coming off fast enough. I lost 5 lbs so far. I still need to clean up the diet...
Hi! My son left this past Sunday for bootcamp. I went back to work Mon and then had to be out of town for meetings. Next week will be gone for another 3 days. The weather has been good so I have walked alot outside. Still no weights but hopefully next 3 weeks. Take care!
Have you tried intervals? They've made a difference in my routine. I run like hell 4 or 5 times for like 30 seconds with 3 minutes of almost complete rest in between. It's broken my plateau. AND I'm only doing cardio for like 20 minutes!
I really owe it to your advice, because if it were for the chiro he'd still have me just swimming...I'm not doing any continuous hi intensity aerobics yet. But it just feels great to finally lift again...so thank you so much for your advice!
Hey man, how's it going? YES...I'm back on the weights...in fact today, I'm going to hit it again. I'm doing it all but, of course, not at the weights I was in before. Did the stupidest thing, though, was subbing for a PE class and I started running with the 6 graders, it felt great until the next day...ended up Friday at the chiro's for adjustments.
Yeah, I've spent some time in Waterloo, IA - good Midwestern folks down there. I like the change of different gyms when I travel, so hopefully you'll get in some good workouts!
You are so right! I am not sure why I let go .. I still go to the gym every day.. i guess it was just hard because he doesnt go every day and it is hard to stay focused .. it's hard when everyone goes to dairy queen now and I am the only one not wanting to go... They went last night though and I didnt get anything! I did so good today as well.. thanks for being there..
