When I Started:
Jul, 2007
How I Started:
I first started up in July 2007 (a month ago from writing this) when a friend of mine wanted to be my workout partner. My pants were getting tighter, I had excess fat in the way, and I had family members make comments (thanks M & D! :/) about me gaining weight after my wedding. We started going 3 times a week and were super motivated. A month later I check the scale, and WHAT, I gained 6 pounds since working out and am now at the most I ever weighed in my life! I found the culprit was my eating habits. When I calculated my daily calorie intake, it was horrendous! I also took some pictures for my "before" pictures and was very disappointed (I didn't know my backside looked like that!). So here I am, starting out on Bodyspace, on a mission.
Why I Love It:
Because I know that I'm one baby step closer to my goal, and that the body fat is melting away with every minute at the gym.
How I Stay Motivated:
1) For the first time, I can say that going to the gym has finally become a "hobby". Also, I feel like I'm doing it in secret, so the next time I see my friends...
2) I NEED to fit into my current wardrobe size. No way am I spending any money on larger size pants
3)I'm doing things the right way, and finally seeing results-- very slowly but surely.
BB Accomplishments:
My first major accomplishment so far is getting started and creating a workout & meal plan.
Since I'm very petite, I was never really considered overweight because I was "small" in general. I could hide any excess fat well with wearing the right clothes and the right color. But, as you can (or will) see w/my progress pictures, I've always been a "chubby", and I've gotten chubbi-ER. My goal is to weigh what my license reads. I am about 20lbs above that. So I'm also doing this because I wouldn't want to be a liar on any government documents, right? :) p.s. losing weight has NEVER been easy for me. I think my body is super stubborn. I don't just want to the typical "skinny asian girl" (was never one anyway). I want to be super toned! In a nutshell, I want to look good in little to no clothes!

I want to LOSE 20 lb

So I fell off the wagon..... I live in SoCal in on of the areas that had to evacuate due to the fires. We stopped working out the next couple weeks due to the air quality. Well.... 2 wks turned into a month, then Thanksgiving, Christmas & New Year came and went. We stayed a week in...
A little progress!!!??? Dude don't sell yourself short. There is a big difference in your progress pics. You are doing great!!! Keep it up. Consistency is the key.

That's awesome! Sounds like you are on a roll! Keep it up. I understand about the progress pics. I figure i'll wait at least 2 weeks before taking more :)
Just wanted to say congrats and good luck on your transformation. If you ever need someone to talk to or just someone to keep you motivated let me know I got your back. Take care and again gook luck on all your goals. Lou
Good luck and don't become discouraged. Many will gain some weight as they start lifting as they are adding muscle. The difference is that muscle will let you metabolize at a higher level. Gains come slow. Hang in there. This site should be all the inspiration you need. Try fitday.com for nutrition tracking. Take care.
Congrats on going for it! As you have found out getting in shape is a 3 part program. 1, is to work out with weights at least 3 times per week. 2, is to do cardio of a duration not shorter than 20 min. at least 3 times per week. 3, is to eat 5 to 6 small, clean, protein rich meals per day. By doing these 3 things you will be amazed at the changes and the speed at which they can occur.
