It really depends on the certification. Mine was free because basically the owner of my gym put me through it. Weird situation, he saw potential in me and confronted me about becoming a personal trainer. I had never thought about it but jumped on the opportunity. It would have cost me around $500. All i had to buy was the $75 textbook. It is such a fun and rewarding job. It's also great to push other people. Time just flies and it seems like free money because for once i actually ENJOY my job.
